I agree that the video camera provides an accurate and convincing record of contemporary life, but it doesn't mean that it has become more important than written records as a form of documentation, for the reason that written records usually are short and record things clearly enough.

I concede that the video camera often provides very accurate and convincing record because when it begins to record, it can record almost every detail. The video camera just like a combination of human eyes and computers, receive almost everything it encounter and save it completely. Once it begins to record, the whole thing will be recorded without losing a detail.  Because the video records almost include everything, they play a vital role in the courts or other circumstances that need some detail evidence. However, even it is true that the video camera is very accurate, it sometimes tells lies. If the one who made records omitted some vital details on purpose, the fact may be completely different from what the record has shown. Although it does not happen frequently, there's a chance that the video camera tell lies.

Although the accuracy of the records is very important in some circumstances, the other characteristics of recording tools should also be considered. Firstly, in many cases, the records usually do not need to be so accurate with every detail. Only a few words can explain things clearly and record the essential thing, especially something that is very simple and trifle, then there is no need to use the video camera to make record.  Otherwise, there will be many trivia in the video record which are useless at all. In that case, using the camera as a recording tools will be not suitable. Secondly, in some circumstances, the documentation may not be able to be recorded by video camera, such as some fundamental information or a certification of ability, which can only be written records.

More over, people often make records when something has happened, because there are many interesting things or things worth being record are unexpected. After the things happened, they can write it down on the paper according to their memories. But the camera can only record what is happening at that time, many exciting scenes will surely be lost. People who record with cameras have to take it all day long, and even with that, they cannot record everything they want to record, since they cannot come across everything they want to record. Besides, it is not convenient and may be foolish to take a camera and wait for something unexpected.

Even all the documentation can be recorded by video, the cost of recording is also worthy of being considered since the funds and money is limited. Obviously, using video camera cost much more than the written records, because the one who makes records has to buy a camera which is much more expensive than paper. To save those records, they need the tapes or computers whose expense is much higher, too.

Of course, the video camera has its own advantage which the written records might not transcend. But in many cases, the traditional written record is much more useful than the video camera since it is very convenient.

刚刚看了一下,这篇简直是垃圾,重新修改了一下贴出来。
I agree that the video camera provides an accurate and convincing record of contemporary life, but written records also serve as an important form of documentation, for the reason that written records usually are short and record things clearly enough. In many respects, the video serves as a poor substitute when it comes to archive and recording something that has passed.

I concede that the video camera often provides very accurate and convincing record because it can record almost every detail. So it plays a vital role in the legal proceedings or other circumstances that need some detail evidence. The video record always serves as a convincing evidence of robbery, police misconduct or even malpractice in hospital room when operating. Besides, it is superior to written record when it come to art education. Without the camera, the scenes of many beautiful performances such as the ballet and opera will not be completely recorded, since there is no observer or recorder can write all s/he observed. Thus, the speaker's claim that the video camera is very important has some merit because it can record current events and art performance very clearly.

Although the accuracy of the records is very important in many circumstances, the other characteristics of recording tools should also be considered, especially when it comes to the archive function. Firstly, in many cases, the records usually do not need to be so accurate with every detail. Only a few words can explain things clearly and record the essential thing, especially something that is very simple and trifle, then there is no need to use the video camera. Secondly, in some circumstances, the documentation may not be able to be recorded by video camera, such as some fundamental information or a certification of certain ability, which can only be written or printed records. Thirdly, with written records, it is very convenient to review and cross-reference the information, but video, even a selected one, is more trouble, especially when the written record is also available.

More over, people often make records after something has happened, because many interesting things or things worthy to be recorded are unexpected. When it has passed, they can write it down on the paper according to their memories. Since the camera can only record what is happening at that time, many exciting scenes will surely be lost. surely我个人不支持这么绝对的表达be lost.
