In this argument, the author claims that the significant cooling down of earth happened in mid-sixth century was probably the result of a volcanic eruption. To support his assertion, the author cites that only limited records survive from that time and some of them mention a dimming of the sun and extremely cold temperatures which could be ascribed to either volcanic eruptions or meteorite collisions. Correspondingly, those records only mention a loud boom which may be caused by volcanic eruptions. However, there are some logistic flaws in this argument which make it unconvincing as it stands.

First of all, it is unreasonable to get the conclusion that the significant cooling was caused by the dimming of sun because both of these phenomena mentioned in the ancient survived records. It is possible that after the temperature goes down, water molecule become ice in the air and those crystals consequently change the light reflection. Therefore, ancient people record the dimming of sun. At the same time, these two phenomena might do not have a lot of relationship, they just happen to be observed and recorded together. In both cases, the basis of this argument is open to doubt.

Secondly, even if they are relevant to each other as claimed, the argument does not show us any firm evidence that there are no other ways which could lead to the dimming of sun. Perhaps there are some abnormal magnetic actions inside the sun itself. Those abnormal actions decrease the lightness and energy emission of sun, as a result, lead to the temperature dropping of earth. Without considering the other possible reasons, it is unconvincing to make any conclusions from just two cases, the huge volcanic eruption or the large meteorite collision.

Thirdly, there is still a vital flaw involved with this argument when deciding from the two possible reasons. To prove his choice the arguer cites the survived records which mentioned a loud boom but nothing about a sudden bright flash which are the symbols of volcanic eruptions and meteorite collisions accordingly. However, only a loud boom could not demonstrate the existence of volcanic eruptions. Some other disaster weathers, just like an avalanche in the valley, can also make big sounds. Lacking the sufficient evidence to prove the existence of a volcanic eruption, the argument could not be supported as it stands.

To sum up, this argument has certain problems which lead it can not be well supported. To strengthen it the author should provide more and firmer evidence that significant cooling in mid-sixth century is caused by the dimming of sun and that is the volcanic eruption which is with the responsibility for such a dimming of sun.

感觉怪怪的]. To strengthen it the author should provide more andfirmer evidence that significant cooling in mid-sixth century is caused by thedimming of sun and that is the volcanic eruption which is with theresponsibility for such a dimming of sun.
