The author claims that the education will be effective only when it satisfy the individual needs and interest of each student. However the statement is too extreme. In my view, although the interest plays an important role in the student's study, the education specifically designed to meet the individual needs will have many undesirable problems. We should combine the interest education with the major education, only this method of education is effective.

Admittedly, as an old saying goes: interest is the best teacher. A student interested with his study will be more positive and active, thus make his effort to his study and his study will become more effective. Consider the great physicist Newton, if he did not have interest, he would not make the law of Gravity just because an apple that fail down on his head. Another example to demonstrate this point is Watt, without interest he would not observe the boiled water and invented the steam engine. Consequently, education systems that can take into account the specific needs and interests of each student will help the student to fully develop their distinct potential and talent. In such an educational system, students, feeling centered and appreciated, will be more motivated to study.

However, despite the advantages of education system that can take into account the specific needs and interests of each student discussed above, it may cause many problems that make the education ineffective. As to the following two points:

On the one hand, for the students, there will be two problems: Firstly, the goal of education is to cultivate full-scale developed students. If the education system emphasizes too much on the individual interest and educates absolutely accord to the students' need, most the students under this education system will be not integrated in knowledge system. In this case, this education system violates the ultimate goal of education, and the student it cultivated may not satisfy the societal needs. Secondly, this kind of education system makes the student cannot study together, because every student may have their own interests. Thus they miss the chance to communicate with each other and be socialized. This kind of students is bound to fail in the future career for they are poor to get into a small niche and cannot cooperate with other people.

On the other hand, the realization of the education system that can take into account the specific needs and interests of each student is almost impossible. Compare with the huge amount of numbers of the student, the resources of education is limited, even went short of. Thus the educational resources fail to meet every student's needs. For instance, some student are interested in spaceflight, others interested in navigation, an education system is impossible to take either of them too the ocean and space and study, not to say the huge number of students who have a huge number of interests.

Although complete liberty in designing education is not available to all individual students, schools can try their best to offer more choice ands and autonomy to students as long as the quality of compulsory education is guaranteed. For example, the combination of required course and elective course, on the basis that required course is not be interrupted, the school may provide lots of elective courses for the students to satisfy their interests.

In sum, I agree that the education specifically designed to meet the individual needs is effective to some extent. However, if a school only put this education system into practice, the students it cultivated cannot compete in the society. We should combine the major education and interest education together, this kind of education system is effective to large extent.
