第一段：首先不能否定科学往往是事情的真实解释，在社会的进步中起到重大作用。然而非主流的科学出现，发展和起到重大作用的事实也不能被忽略。
第二段：无可置疑的是，科学是人类的重大成就，有很多作用。
第三段：非主流科学的出现是合理的，消除了人们对未知世界的无助和无知的羞耻感
第四段：即使今天社会也有用1）有很多人没受过教育 2）当今科学仍然不能解释所有的问题，所以还要求助于nonmainstream area
第五段：总结

The speaker asserts that nonmainstream areas of inquiry play a vital role in society by satisfying human needs that are not addressed by mainstrean science. I fundamentally agree with the speaker. I do not deny that the mainstream science is always the true explanation of the objective world and provides us a better life. However, the fact that nonmainstream areas of inquiry appears, develops and influences generation to generation should also not be neglected.

Admittedly, the science is the greatest achievement of the human being, and contributes a lot in the process of the society's advance. The mainstream science solves our puzzles and brings us a better life. For instance science could tell us why there is male and female in this world, science could provides us cool wind through air conditioner in the hot summer, science could also  make the convenience of the communication to the unheard of level. Everyone who lives in this society is enjoying the benefits that society brings to us. Therefore, most of the desires of human being are contented by science and the thriving society is also owe to it.

However, the unavoidable appearance of some nonmainstream areas of inquiry in the long history is reasonable. Before the era, in which science is so complete that it can explain most of the phenomenon we meet in our lives, has come, those mysterious things which seems to be easily understood now puzzles our ancestors. The feeling of the helpless and the innocence to a lot of things push people to find a method of explanation. Those nonmainstream areas of inquiry such as astrology, fortune-telling and psychic occurred at that time. It helps people to diminish the feeling of helpless and the shame of innocence, give people mental confidence and peace. Furthermore, some mainstream science’s origin is based on so-called nonmainstream areas. For example, some alchemists become the inaugurator of the chemistry in the process of finding a medicine keeping people live forever. So the appearance of nonmainstream area is not only reasonable but also contribute to the born of science to some extent.

Even if we are living in a society with highly advanced science and technology, the importance of the nonmainstream areas should not be ignored. Firstly, we have to admit that there is still a large amount of people who cannot get science education. The mainstream science which is always profound seems to be hard for those people to understand. After all, collective life experience tells us the accuracy and complexity which is adored by scientist always becomes the barrier for us to accept. However, the nonmainstream area of inquiry which is comparative easier to understood supply them a mental shelter. Secondly, although the science nowadays could explains most of the things, there is still a lot of phenomenon puzzles people. As our ancestor does, when we can not explain using science, we turn our focus to the nonmainstream of area. It solves the anxiety when people face the unknown world.

In sum, admittedly science is the basis of the human society considering its great function in the history. Every moment we benefit from the things and ideas science brings to us. However, when it comes to the unknown world, the nonmainstream area of inquiry could comfort us, provides us peace and confidence.
