Education is an important part to everyone’s life, it is crucial not only for the development of one’s personal life, but also of the essence for the progress of society. When it comes to the hectic debate about whether daily homework is needed, a lot of people welcome the viewpoint that it is important for students to do homework everyday, whereas other people hold the completely different perspective. As far as I concerned, I tend to welcome the point of view of the first group of people. However, ages of students, and the amount of homework should also be taken into account.
First of all, the essentiality of homework is of no doubt, for the reason that study is a systematical process, which requires the mechanism of systematical repetition. In ordinary study, the practice of newly acquired knowledge and the preparation for new lessons are essential parts to the learning process. In addition, students always have no idea about their study scheme account to the lack of experience of study. Therefore, teachers should take the responsibility to serve as the designer of students’ study.
As most of us have once experienced, when study in middle school, after one day’s extensive study, the only thing students want is relaxation, and they reluctant to do homework. However, if students do not complete the homework, the next day’s study could not progress for they may completely forget what have studied the day before. Understandably, everyone has the nature that need entertainments, especially for the students with little self-restriction, but excessive amusement is harmful. Therefore, the restriction from teachers is obviously required to the proper education progress of students.
However, for the students who have just enrolled in elementary school, homework is not needed in the first one or two years, for the reason that they are limited in their ability to concentrate on a subject and take in knowledge and these skills are developed over time. Besides, they need time to learn other important lessons, such as how to interact socially and behavior in among their peers, which is helpful to their future study.
Although there is no denying the fact that homework is important. The amount of homework should not be excessive. Because too much homework will frustrate the students, which may lead to students’ decreasing interests to the subjects, and eventually make teachers’ good intention to the opposite effects.
In conclusion, homework is important to students’ development, also, some other factors should also to be taken into account. Only in this way can students gain better education and grow in a more effective way.
