Happiness is considered very important in life. why is it difficult to define? what factors are important in achieving happiness?



Happiness is what people longing for in their life. People pursuing for money, house, car and other luxurious things, their ultimate purpose is searching for the happiness of life. In this way, we can see happiness one of the most important criteria for life.

However, people can not give an accurate definition for happiness. The most important reason for this is that different people have different index about happiness. Some take how much they earn as the vital index to happiness. Yet, other, for instance, some rich people, who get almost everything they want, still find that they are not happy. They probably take emotional feelings as their happy index. As Bill Gates, one of the richest men in USA, once said when you earn enough, money becomes a sign in the bank. To people like them, a sign could not bring happy.

Of course, there are also some factors which affect the achieving of the happiness in life. As my own consideration, the first and most important factor, is that the living standard of people. I remember there is a most famous “pyramid” which can fully explain this. The pyramid show that people should first content their warm and full , and then they can long for spiritual content. Moreover, personal characteristic and the stable of society are the other two important factors in achieving happiness. A pessimistic person, for example, can never feel comfortable about their life even if they have whatever they want. Furthermore, the stability of the society can also affect the happy feeling of people. We all know that people in an unstable society can not feeling secure about life.

To sum up, the reason for the dispute about happiness is that different people can not agree to each other and there are also a lot of factors in achieving happiness.
