I partly agree with the arguer's claim that money spent on research is almost always a good investment. In my opinion, investment in researchs of most fields of society- such as education, agriculture, industry, and so forht- play significant roles in the development of civilization. Nevertheless, is it a sensible idea to invest money in some controversial study like nuclear research? It depends.The speaker overlooks other bad influence the research brings about that maybe outweigh the benefit from them.


It is generally agreed that science is the most dynamic productive force in modern times. The expectancy of life has been prolonged, the medical care has been improved, the living condition has been ameliorated, the living quality has been raised to a higher level. Tracing the track of the development of history, every invention is attributed to the innovation of research, and our society is enjoying the fruits of investing on research. Without sufficient fund, quite obviously, there would no be so many and so rapid achievements in our society now.

While, it is true that sometimes the result of research can cause much controversy in society. For instance, the technique of cloning is the discussing focus in the nationwide in recent years. Still now, this heating debate is unsettled. Anthropologists strongly against using this technique on human being, since it violates our moral and ethical value system, and break the development regulation that we hold all the long. However, as for the scientists, pursuing in pure academic discipline, they try to realize their ambition in the hope of making breakthrough in medicine as well as in science. There has not reached in an agreement in the nationwide, after all the technique of cloning if used properly will also benefit human being.

Although there are still many controversies unsettled in research results, we should hold an optimistic perspective that the side effects of a research result will be overcome and that truth rather than falsehood or ignorance serves human interests best in the long run. As the old saying goes, every coin has two sides. We cannot use the side effects as an excuse to deny the whole value of a research result. Such as drugs, when properly used in medicine, it serves patients best, but at the same time, when it flows into society, it arouses drugs abuse. What is important is that we cannot betray our initially purpose of investing on research which aims at improving the quality of our living and propel the society to evolve advance.

In general, it is a good investment to spent money on research, even though the results of research are controversial. Whether the results of research will bring benefit to society as a whole or not, depends on whether the users apply them properly.

感觉全篇虽然有几处让步但是还是基于一个方面写的，就是赞同，没有辩证开，不同观点应该把对立观点立起来，以体现思维的严谨性。
