题目：ARGUMENT2 - The following appeared in a letter sent by a committee of homeowners from the Deerhaven Acres to all homeowners in Deerhaven Acres.
"Seven years ago, homeowners in nearby Brookville community adopted a set of restrictions on how the community's yards should be landscaped and what colors the exteriors of homes should be painted. Since then, average property values have tripled in Brookville. In order to raise property values in Deerhaven Acres, we should adopt our own set of restrictions on landscaping and housepainting."


The author recommends that property values in Deerhaven Acres will be raise since similar restrictions on landscaping and housepainting adopted as it in Brookville. The claim seems to be reasonable, however, it suffers from several unpersuasive supports that will weaken, even undermine the claim.

To begin with, the author fails to clearly indicate the reason why the average property values raised in Brookville. In the letter the author just represents that Brookville community adopted a set of restrictions on landscaping and housepainting. But do these restrictions have sufficient effects on the property values rising? The author fails to consider alternative factors of the values rising. For example, the supply-and-demand relation has changed. More and more people want to own a personal house so that the values rising. In addition, maybe the whole city is in economy inflation, which means that the money is no longer as valuable as they were before. So homewanters have to charge more money, even triple than before, for their new houses. Such factor will lead to the same consequence, the property values rising, as the author only recommends the set of restrictions.

In the second place, even assuming the restrictions affected in Brookville, it is unconvincing that the same restrictions will bring benefits in Deerhaven Acres. Lacking of background information of Deerhaven Acres, we can not ensure property values will definitely raise. Further more, the success of Brookville happened seven years ago, while no evidence shows that homewanter still prefer to the houses with exteriors painted. Maybe they like houses with no colored exteriors at present. The restrictions may not bring what the homeowners in Deerhaven Acres want.

Overall, the reasoning behind adopting the same restrictions in Deerhaven Acres as in Brookville seems logical since the homeowners in Deerhaven Acres are acting in their own best interests and want to raise property values. However, before come to the final decisions, the committee and the whole homeowners should consider all possible alternatives to ensure the result  is what they really desired.
