TOPIC: ARGUMENT142 - The article entitled 'Eating Iron' in last month's issue of Eating for Health reported that a recent study found a correlation between high levels of iron in the diet and an increased risk of heart disease. Further, it is well established that there is a link between large amounts of red meat in the diet and heart disease, and red meat is high in iron. On the basis of the study and the well-established link between red meat and heart disease, we can conclude that the correlation between high iron levels and heart disease, then, is most probably a function of the correlation between red meat and heart disease.

The argument is well-present, but not well-reasoned. By establishing two correlations between high levels of diet iron and increased risk of heat disease; and iron in red meat and the red meat, the arguer continues concluding the problem by establishing the correlation between red meat and disease. The argument seems logical.
However, the arguer is failing to consider other possible alternatives about taking high iron in diet. Such alternatives might include the facts that there are some other things in diet containing high level iron such as spinach, liver, and laver or the diet taken contains some vegetable or fruit would cause alter the absorption of iron offered in the diet. It is entirely possible that some sorts of snacks and beverages would also supply additional iron that we are always overlooking or choosing to ignore. In addition, the arguer fails to consider that life behavior has also influenced the risk of heart disease. Form my academic knowledge, if one who even takes high level of iron in diet do exercise more frequently, the risk of heart disease would decline a lot. For that matter, iron is not a suitable criterion to measure risk of heart disease.
The analysis is an one-sided argument about the increasing risk of heart disease because of taking red meat. As my certain knowledge, there are plenty of materials in red meat made available to cause heat disease such as cholesterine. Cholesterine, which will cause hypertensionor high hyperlipemia even atheroscler-osishypolipemic (ARS), is broadly defined as playing the most important role in heart disease. For that matter, one cannot reasonable to infer that high-level iron in red meat is the determination factor in causing heart disease. Alternatively, even the high level of iron will increase the risk of the heart disease, the argument dose not offer exact level of the iron in red meat for us to judge wither the level has achieved the heart disease effective level. Unless more details have been given, one cannot deduce the conclusion as arguer's.
The conclusion " the correlation between high iron levels and heart disease, then, is most probably a function of the correlation between red meat and heart disease." is easily arguable. Since from our logical knowledge, we learn that there is no equivalency existed in correlation ship. That means even high level iron in diet has correlation with heart disease and red meat has correlation with high-level iron, we cannot deduce that red meat has correlation with heart disease. Since too much confuders has not been exclude. Let explain it in an easy way, increased rainy day correlate with more umbra, increased number of people correlate with more umbra, but we cannot conclude that rainy day has correlation between increased people.
Overall, the reasoning behind the establishing of the correlation between red meat and increased risk of heart meat as presented above seems logical as the arguer is acting in his own best and wants to warn people. However, before any conclusion has been made out, the arguer should evaluate all the alternatives and causes.
