Are scandals useful in politics, academia, or other areas like the author asserts? Generally, I stand on the same side with he(有这样表达的么?有点别扭), as scandals definitely present many problems exist in our society in front of us, which need public's attention to blame to. But we have to ensure that scandals won't be abused(用的好~) to unnecessary affairs.
Scan the area of politics, scandals nearly always related to corruption, cheat and inhumanity, any of them is the very thing people do not want to see. Annam, the former general secretary of U.N, was relapsed into the scandal caused by his son, who was a suspect of U.N. 'oil for food' plan's corruption. Annam's son was under suspicion for acquiring the contract of this plan through some illegal approaches. This event absolutely calls for public's attention about the corruption problems within U.N., though whether Annam was deeply involved in this affair remains unknown. The more people doubt, the more clean-fingered U.N. will be.(例子与你的结论好像不是很符,有点牵强。。到底安南和他儿子得事有没有关系?只是怀疑而已并不确切与其这样不如不提安南直接说他儿子确凿得例子比较好论述) Nixon was compelled to abdicate from the position of President of United States because of 'Water Gate' event which was affirmatively a sign of public voice that cheat is not allowed, especially in the field of politics. Former President Saddam was sentence to death by Iraq's people when he was forced to acknowledge the inhumane actions to Koord and many other accusals like despotism and corruption. Things are the same with most of the scandals in politics. Officers will learn from them, and keep clean hands(good!)to avoid public's nonconfidence. Government will be more efficient if there is no scandal exists.萨达姆得例子算是丑闻么?
On the contrast, still take politics for example, the exposure of scandal might be abused or utilized to political intrigues (good!)between different interest groups. The competitor might counterfeit some inconsistent evidence to attract a generally honorable leader. And in my point of view, the revealing of private life of a certain politician is some kind of misleading to people. We can not really oppugn Clinton's ability of managing a whole country, but he was extensively censured not because of corruption or inhumanity, but some personal behaviors. Medias play an undoubtedly important role of revealing scandals unfeignedly, however, sometimes they just abuse this right.
In the realm of academia, scandals definitely should be used to exposure the cheat or embezzlement in the researches. Experts are supposed to be honest as they are the people who tell us the truth of the world. And embezzling other researcher's production are absolutely a disrepute. Scandals make academia clean.这段可以再详细点论述下 前面两段都很好 有点虎头蛇尾
To sum up, scandals, if properly used, would certainly be quite useful to make the governments, companies and so on honest and efficient, and therefore lead to a peaceful and wonderful world where we live. However, we should really concern about what make scandals in-depth, not only by the surface.
你有很多词用的很漂亮,让我学到不少呵呵
