Is it true that an effective leader should insist particular principles and objectives rather than popular opinion? The speaker claims so and I tends to partly agree. An effective leader should stick to particular principle and objectives, meanwhile he or she should consider popular opinion.

To begin with, the leader should have his own principles, which can help him perform well in leadership work. If one leader can stick to his principles during his daily leadership work, he can be equitable. Justice and equity are crucial factors for one effective leader. In our real life, we can see that if you know some leader who treats everyone equally and deals things equitably, you will have a great impression of him and admire him, next time if the leader call on you and others to take actions, you can great likely follow his suggestions. Through this, we can understand the importance of leaders' insistence of some kinds of principles.

Secondly, being committed to objectives can make leadership effective. For us-general people, if we have an objective and pursue it, we will work hard and find out ways to achieve the objective. This can be applied to the work of leaders. If an leader can truly pay attention to his objectives, which are surely clear to members of his leadership, members can realize his great efforts to this objectives and will be active to try their best to provide any support to the leader, these supports are greatly important and encouraging to the leader. Since clear objectives have this kind of effects, why should not a leader build effective objectives?

Meanwhile, an effective leader should consider popular opinions if they are reasonable. The purpose of the leader is to bring happiness and conveniences to people; it is important and necessary to collect people's opinions. Admittedly, many of the opinions are not rational because members of the group are not professional enough as leaders and can not think about things roundly as leaders, but the opinions can told leaders what they are thinking about, and also can provide thoughts ideas, which can form professional and effective ideas by leader' personal knowledge. Even there may be some valuable suggestions that will have great help to leaders directly.

To sum up, through the discussion above, I hope I have shown the importance of principles, objectives and popular opinions. It is hoped that leaders can make great use of them and create a comfortable surrounding for people in his group.
