1.         判断是否重要的标准是是否很大程度上影响了人们的生活，尽管非主流的探求有时很不理性，但依然在社会中扮演重要的角色
2.         不可否认的是，非主流的探求没有一个可靠的判别标准，由于其不确定性，就很难被认可和延续
3.         但人们往往在遇到问题时只需要一种心灵上的满足，释放压力或给自己提供一种暗示，在这时非主流的探求就能够满足人们的需求，相反科学的探求反而不行
4.         笃信非主流探求的人很多来自社会的下层，他们在现实生活中遭受了很多苦难，就更需要在另一些领域寻求安慰
5.         总之，只要不将这种非主流的探求无限扩大危害别人，即使是非理性的，他也在很大程度上影响了人们的生活，尤其是穷人，因此在社会中很重要

One way to judge whether the nonmainstream areas of inquiry is important is to see whether the inquiry has big effects or influences on people's lives. Although the pursuits in nonmainstream areas seem to be irrational and unreasonable sometimes, I agree with the speaker that the inquiry still play a vital role in society in many aspects.

Admittedly, these pursuits may not be rooted in reason and few people would seriously think that the inquiry which focuses on the awareness deep in soul and mental communication is science. It is impossible for people to assess the credibility of astrology that tells us how the future life would be. Because of the uncertainty, it is difficult for people to find a standard to evaluate the inquiry. The inquiring process also can not be sustained and reliable since the results of the inquiry is not convincing. Most people would prefer to contribute them to luck, if happens to be satisfiable, rather than scientific decision.

However, whereas the nonmainstream areas of inquiry can not provide a definite result, they can affect people in different ways from mainstream science. For example, sometimes people cast a coin for decision when they are hesitant, rely on stars for choices when they are confused, turn to a tarot card for goals when they are puzzled. I believe that they do not care whether the process is scientific or not because they just need to release from some certain pressure or give intimation to themselves. At that time, it is better to follow one's heart than analyze some boring data. Besides, mainstream science is helpless as well since there are so many influential factors that one can not make a real scientific decision.

Moreover, people who believe in such nonmainstream areas of inquiry are mostly lower hierarchy that need more concern in the society. The inquiry can easily bring feelings that comfort their hearts by the expectation to afterlives. The people who suffered a lot of pain in the realistic world tend to explore another path to realize their dreams and goals. And then, the inquiry provides them with strong support. Even though the pleasure is limited, at least they get a chance to enjoy a happy life that they can not have in a real world. From this point of view, the nonmainstream of inquiry is truly important because it affects the poor people's lives so much that you can not imagine how they would live without the inquiry.

To sum up, the nonmainstream pursuits does afford many people, especially the lower hierarchy, psychological comfort in life. Although the pursuits are illogical and irrational, as long as they do not extend without any restraints and not being harmful to others, there is no doubt they have influenced the people's lives so much and play a vital role in society.

我觉得你的问题和我是一样的 有的时候思路太发散，因此这篇最大的问题是你的第一段提出的中心句是围绕非主流的重要性，那么你就以后三段都应该围绕这个来写，但是我感觉下面的分析都没有点明，显得跟第一段脱节，有点乱
