R&B王子Babyface和LA REID创立当代黑音美声大厂“LaFace”后，成就的艺人无数,其中包括Toni Braxton、TLC、Goodie Mob、Outkast、Usher、Pink…而这些无数知名红牌皆来自这双神奇之手，他就是坐阵“LaFace”首席男声，替公司赢得多项殊荣，创作、演唱、制作一手包办的Donell Jones。

Donell Jones儿时住在美国东岸，父亲是唱诗班的主唱，他从小就是在音乐的熏陶下长大的，也深爱穿着与老爸同样绅士般的服装。但成就Donell Jones成为歌手的关键点在于家庭的环境影响。这使他的歌曲没有暴力，粗话等。同时也造就了他独来独往的性格。自从第一支单曲开始，Donell Jones就独立的写歌，演唱甚至制作。当碰到了“Untouchables Entertainment”的Edward ”Eddie F” Ferrell(隶属80～90年代著名流行饶舌团体Heavy D & the Boyz)，两人便携手走进了大厂“LaFace”。

Donell Jones在LaFace的处女作，便是Usher的1994年冠军单曲“Think Of You”，这首歌的一炮而红使“LaFace”两大龙头Babyface 及LA REID相当惊喜，于是便企划替Donell Jones发行个人首张大碟《My Heart》。

在1996年Donell Jones成功发行个人首张大碟《My Heart》后，成绩骄人的《My Heart》因为Donell的下张专辑《Where I Wanna Be》(1999年)再次热卖，不仅同名细碟“Where I Wanna Be”登上2000年的“ Billboard HOT 100 Singles”，“U Know What's Up”更是占据“Billboard R&B Single Charts”的冠军长达8周之久。

2002年，未发行先轰动的专辑《Life Goes On》上榜的第一周，便抢下“Billboard Top 100 Albums”的第三名和“Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums”的亚军。

2006年6月，Donell Jones推出了其第四张专辑，《Journey Of A Gemini》。 唱片由四名好莱坞著名制作人Ryan Leslie, Sean Garrett, the Underdogs, Mike City及Jones自己共同制作；同时也邀请了三位歌手Jermaine Dupri , Bun B ,Clipse参与合声演唱。

2007年9月,纪念入行十年之际，出版首张精选特典，挑選13首最具代表的历屆佳作 ◎包括：不仅荣登全美流行单曲榜Top7+英国金榜亚军席次，更盘踞节奏蓝调单曲榜冠军长达八周之久的〈U Know What＇s Up〉、成为各电台热门点播，挺进节奏蓝调/嘻哈榜亞軍之〈Where I Wanna Be〉、 Jermaine Dupri饶舌助阵〈Better Start Talking〉、取样全美黑白双雄经典二人组Daryl Hall&John Oates畅销作〈Sara Smile〉的〈Cry〉…等曲
