TOPIC: ISSUE51 - "Education will be truly effective only when it is specifically designed to meet the individual needs and interests of each student."
WORDS: 573 DATE: 2007-12-28 19:46:16
The claim that education only designed to meet individual needs and interests of each student will be truly effective is too extreme. I concede that student-centered education plays a positive role in nurturing the next generation to some extent. Yet in my viewpoint, whether education is effective or not, it depends on how well students adapt themselves to society and what contributions they make to society. Therefore, the other vital aspect of education is that the government and society have the responsibility to utility education to foster students in a way that appeal to teach each student on the whole level and in the right direction.
Centered to students, education has advances in inspiring one's passion to go further on the road one chooses which is indispensable for success. After all, interest is the best teacher; once one becomes interest in something, this uninterrupted desire would explode the unbelievable energy persisting to know more about it, no matter how difficult it would be. Indeed, when one loves one's art no service seems too hard. In this case, the study for students is not burden but joy, and the sort of education is more effective than education that students are compelled to learn knowledge.
Further, one of the purposes of education is to meet societal needs, one of which is the genius most of who are pioneers in their own fields creating more grand materialistic worth. Yet not everyone have the talent to be the great scientists or the engineers who make grand attribution to our society. It is unfair to educate them in the same model, since if the education is arranged according to the genius, it might disturb the confidence of the common students; while if inclined to most students, this educational model might waste one talent, even more. If so, the society lost the drive for future without doubt. With regard to the individual needs and the interests of each student, education will prepare different students for satisfying all sorts of needs of the society.
Unduly focus on students, however, education do harm more than benefit to the society. It is true that we sincerely hope that every student has his own interest and want to create the diversity among them, yet it is most likely that who we teach are self-centered and have few basic abilities for surviving and little moral consciousness, such as the tolerance of other's mistakes, the co-operation with others, or the interaction with others or the like. Without all of the above, one can hardly achieve success. Even that one have brilliant contribution, he might be easily misled by the villains, resulting in the unsafe factors such as the bombing events and the malpractice in the research and so on. The unstable would postpone the step for social promoting.
Moreover, what are students’ favorites is not always right, thus adults should immediately conduct them on the right way rather than let it be. For instance, if one's individual needs are playing the PC games all day long, should we allow him do what he would like to do? Of course not, we should hold back his activities as soon as possible, or when he grow up, he would regret his ignorant behaviors idling the time on the games during the young.
In conclusion, the coalescence of meeting what students need and satisfying what the society requires are the truly effective way in educating the next generation.
Hongdan说第三段不好有点和第二段衔接不上,第二段可以在开始写个从社会的教育体系来看,这样的话衔接能好些,我试试改改
