TOPIC: ARGUMENT26 - The following appeared in a memo from the chairperson of the school board in the town of Saluda.

"For the past five years, Mr. Charles Schade has been the music director at Steel City High School, and during that time the school band from Steel City High has won three regional band competitions. In addition, the quality of the music rehearsal facilities and musical instruments at Steel City High has improved markedly over the past five years. Because of such successes at Steel City High, the Saluda school board should hire Mr. Schade to plan and direct the general music education programs for the entire Saluda school system."

In this argument, the author claims that the Saluda school (Sa) boared should hire Mr. Schade(S) to plan and direct the general music education programs for the entire Sa school system. To support his claim, the author provides some evidences. These evidences seems reasonable at first sight, however, there are some fallacies on them.
First of all, the school band directed by C has won three regional band competitions lends little credence to the conclusion. There are many alternatives for the attaining of good mark, such as the eminent music teachers have contribute themselves to teach students so that the whole level of singing of students has been improved rapid, moreover, most of the students who are the member of band had been cultivated before they enter Steel City High School. These alternatives are possible to attribute to the enhanced result of the band rather than the conductor only. Without ruling out these alternatives, the claim is not stand.
Secondly, the quality of the music rehearsal facilities and musical instruments at high school has improved markedly over the past five years is not sufficient to support the author's recommend. It is very possible that the school board have made a plan to invest the musical instrument for a long time rather than the advices from S. What's more, there is no necessary causal relation between the good musical instruments and the excellent achievement. Without considering above possibility, it is doubt to believe that the prompted of musical instruction is due to the conductor.
Finally, the author fails to demonstrate whether the conditions of Sa are the same as Steel City High School. It would be like the advantage of Sa in on physics rather than in music so that the same conductor could bring anticipate effect as before. Without relative explain, the claim deserves doubt whether the success at the high school is resulting from the good conductor.
In sum, in order to improve the argument, the author should provide more evidence to validate there is a direction relation between the conductor and the success of band at the high school. Moreover, the evidence that shows the improved quality of instruments is instructed by S is necessary. Furthermore, the author should offer evidence to explain the conditions at the high school are same as the Sa.
