In the argument, the author concludes that the best way to improve profits in all chain's stores is to stop stocking mass of imported cheeses and focus mainly on domestic cheeses, because the domestic cheddar cheeses from Wisconsin sold best at the newest store. To substantial the conclusion, he also cites the survey of subscribers of Cheeses of the World magazine. This argument is unconvincing in several aspects.

In the beginning, the arguer assumes that, in order to improve profits, it is necessary and sufficiency to cease storing imported but sell domestic cheeses primarily, there is no evidence to sustain the assumptions. The cost of sails could decline by many other means--such as by sales promotion and advertisement to absorb more peoples. And other methods are not compared with the way mentioned in the argument. So it is not always the best way. Because the arguer does not sufficiency prove the sale of domestic cheeses better than that of imported ones in the total purchase of cheeses. Maybe selling imported cheeses gain more benefits. Thus, instead of more profits, it will cut down interests to reduce the store of imported cheeses. In short, the conclusion is doubtful, since the president dose not rule out other feasible measures.

Secondly, the result of the survey at the newest stores about the sale of cheeses can not convince us because the arguer fails to include all the stores in the chain. It is true that new stores sell cheeses well. Whereas the better sales may result from sales promotion, it can not gain more benefits. Besides, the president overlooks the performance of customers at other chain's stores. Therefore the result could not strongly support to what the arguer maintains.

In addition, the arguer provides no evidence that the survey's respondents who subscribe Cheeses of the World magazine are representative of all groups of consumers that buy cheeses from the chain's stores. It is absolutely possible that, ones inclined to imported cheeses not subscribe Cheeses of the World magazine--let alone they will take part in the survey. The president can not rely on the survey to draw any firm conclusions about the customers' attitude to the imported or domestic cheeses.

In sum, the arguer fails to justify that stoping keeping imported cheeses will lead to more profits. So the president should integrated consider the situation at the overall stores, and attain further information about the need of each group of customers. (406个字)
