Coupons are posted in three major methods: online, in-store pick-up and newspapers. Online coupons are usually in the form of "coupon code". A coupon code is usually a combination of numbers and letters like "FF2007"(sephora 20% off coupon). You can find such coupons at websites like www.dealsea.com and apply them at check-out. Please note that most of the coupons posted online are Online Coupons, which can only be used when shopping online. Also, most coupons have an expiration date no longer than a week. So, if you find a deal, buy it! In-store pick-up coupons are small pieces of papers printed something like"2 dollars off". Same thing with newspaper coupons--for newspaper ones, you should cut them off and bring the coupons to the store. Show the coupons at check-out.

Rebates are barely in the form of "cash-return", checks are more common. The most common form of rebate is Mail-in-Rebate. MIR entitles the buyer to mail in a coupon(usually part of the cover or box of the product), a receipt and barcode in order to receive a check for a particular amount. So, in the US, you will find many products priced with "After Rebate". MIR is most commonly used in cellphones, laptops, softwares, automobiles, and other electronics. Most mobile phone plans offer the buyer with cellphone rebate. MIR has expiration dates too.
