The speaker claims that not the critic but the artist gives society something of lasting value. About this issue is a complex one，since it seems involves a conflict between the major professional of artist and the critic .In my point of view ,the final judge should depend on a case-by-case analysis of the two kind of people.
An artist's inspiration and creative works reflects the whole development of history of human being. Those masterpieces represent the wonderful and different time. And these artistes do their best to keep the most valuable things in the world for us. For instance, if Vincent WilliamVan Gogh didn't paint the wonderful picture of sunflowers, no one would discover the really beauty of it; If Leonardo da Vinci didn't left us the artwork of smiling Mona Lisa, how can we find the most beauty in the world can though a gently smiling? If Mozart didn't compose that excellent music, then in the dark, we must have nothing to appease our soul. This function of the arts can be denoted as “expressionism”——the artist’s use of a medium to express unique passion and insight. Poets as Emily Dickinson and ThedoreRoethke, painters such as the American sea painter Winslom Homer, the black folk artist Horracepipkin, used the arts to express their deepest private feelings and their vision of the universe. Whatthe created were not works that expressed an official or institution point of view. They elevated the person to a level of all-consuming importance.
Admittedly, artists of course have their nonesuch places in the world of art. However, whether artist can get more acceptances by common people in sometimes depend on the critics.
Critic is the person who evaluate works of art, such as novels, films ,music, paintings,etc.The function of critic is can help us understand and interpret art; a critic who is familiar with a particular artist and his or her works might have certain insights about those works that layman could not do that. A critic can support feedback for artists, and constructive criticism, if taken to heart, can result in better work. However, sometimes the most people have the different opinion think about that the critic usually treat the artist not so kind and the artist can not have the just treatment, and the artist often have to wait so long time can get people’s honorment. May be the truly masterspieces usually must receive the test of time and the critic.
    Artists and critic can supplement each other, as time passes, the greatest art work are those which are created by artists and evaluated by critics which draw people's attention toward those artworks.
To sum up, no one can really depart the artist and the critics, becouse in the world, artist’s need critics find the true meaning in their works and in the mean time, critics need the artist’s works to help the word's development. In my point of view, artists and the critics all give the society lasting value.

In my point of view, artists and the critics all give the society lasting value.
