Will no field if(of) study advance significantly unless outsiders bring their knowledge and experience to that field of study,(逗号多余了吧?) as the speaker contends? Considering the complexity of today’s society and inherent nature of globalization, all reveal the increasing widening gap between different occupations which is rightly what modern industry demand.(The modern industry 要求的并不是the increasing widening gap between different occupations吧?这句话好像有问题)Two examples that aptly illustrate this point involve the fields of current scientific research on cloning and the birth of the Global Positioning System (GPS). It is temping to make the wildest imaging of the bright future of genetic engineering, which might ultimately solve (the) lasting problems rooted deeply in human beings even when we are created. Consider today’s most pressing social issues, such as war and violence, abuse of drug use and an epidemic of AIDS—such social problems either stem from certain aspects of human nature including greed and aggression or due to the limitation of knowledge and technology; and fortunately, the success of human genome research brings us good news which enables us to engineer away those undesirable aspects of our nature.(背景知识介绍有点过多) Admittedly, it is miracle in science of biology however such advancement may also result unpredictable and dangerous results without the benefit of ethics. Human cloning is the most horrible one, which ignores the right of individual and the bottom line of scientific research, by which(这个which指的是?) I mean is to be beneficial not harmful. By using this technology, numerous individuals can be produced just as the cars on assembly lines or wheat in the farm, what is more, these individual are exact(-ly) the same with all your(这个your太唐突) feature(-s) including same complexion, same stature, even same foibles and fears. How can we treat these(改成such a thing), a human being or a product by our scientists? Are they our brothers, sisters or just another existence of us? If so, the Flood only in BIBLE is actually occur, who can we turn to help, the Noah's Ark or something else? Such Noah's Ark isreality is ethnics which provide some limitations of our scientific exploration by establishing some warning plates and forbidden zones. In such way, our scientific research is based on a beneficial premise, which in turn formulates our activities of research on one hand, and stimulates the progress of science on the other hand. Some defenders might insist that human cloning is also a great achievement in science, as to me these so-called improvements do not brings anything useful but horrible to our society (and it is) no more worse than no improvements. If one do(-es) not think so, please turn to chemical weapons or nuclear bombs.(这句太口语化) An even more striking example of how expertise in diverse fields is needed to advance knowledge involves the GPS which is a satellite-based navigation system made up of a network of 24 satellites placed into orbit by the U.S. Department of Defense. In retrospect, the whole process of this accomplishment is full of cooperation from various disciplines including astronomy, mechanical manufacturing, computer communicating and so forth. Besides these, to coordinate the whole program require the help from accountants, handling crews even our diplomats, after all space project is a costly, complex and international project which needs the cooperative efforts among the world’s scientists and governments. In sum, I agree with speaker’s assertion that no field of study can advance significantly without the expertise from outside. After all, all the science achievements aim at mitigating our sufferings, providing convenience and making our society progress(improving the society), in other word(-s), they actually aim at us-the public; and just our direct beneficiaries provide feedbacks to scientists which in turn motivates their progress.(这句话和主题无关吧?)
