1．批评确实可以帮助我们更好地理解和解释艺术作品（举例：若指出一个乡村歌手的新作是迎合之作，我们就可以节约时间干更有价值的事情）
2．但真正的艺术发自心灵。批评常常被固有标准局限，影响我们判断鉴赏伟大的作品。（举例：凡高的作品不被人承认）
3．批评有时会被政府或所谓权威利用，成为他们控制大众，保持地位的工具（距离：伏尔泰拒斥莎士比亚为野蛮）

我的思考：感觉第1、2条有点互相矛盾，我觉得没有很好的自圆其说
         第3条例子感觉又可以用在第2条，反正说服力不够，但我没能想到政府控制评论的例子

Who on earth gives society something oflasting value ? According to the statement ,it is the artist, not the critic .Tosome extent the speaker overstates the comparative（ly 去掉）significance of artist .Onbalance , however ,I tend to agree with the statement .By recounting thediverse dimensions of human experience ,it is the artist who add meaning to andappreciation of time in which the work is produced.

I concede that the critique plays ancrucial role during the process of understanding and interpreting the artisticwork .After all ,the critic who is familiar with a particular artist and hiswork might provider us some insights that a layperson couldn't have .Byinforming us certain political ,social ,economicalconditions ,the critique provide us a frame of referencewhich needed to better understand and appreciate the artistic work .Moreover ,itfrees up our time to filter out some trashy work from the worthwhile .Forexample ,the new record of a country singer was of little value for the reasonthat pandering to the immature adolescents .If the critique calls out attentionto the fact that we gain more time to seek out something valuable.

However ,the critic sometimes has amisleading influence on us, denying the lasting value of some outstandingworks. As the Freud has said(and I paraphrase).Art ,in essence ,is kind ofrelease of lust ,converting the human nature into plentiful creativity .Fromthese words we can draw the conclusion that art is from the inner world ratherthan the outside world .Considering that point ,few would dispute that the truevalue of art is the manifestation of the artist authentic passion ,the uniquecreative impulse of his spirit .In contrast, the standards of critics based onthe old, established traditions which are opposite to the cardinal ideas of theartists, would limit or destruct the real value of the artists. Van Gogh,creating idiosyncratic workers such as "Starry night" and "Sunflower", disobeyed the contemporary evaluating standard, and was rejectedby the critics at that time as a result. In other words, in such scenario, thecritics are on the slippery step to obscure the value of the masterpieces.

In addition, the next reason why mystandpoint is in consistent with the speaker's statement is that in some casesthe critique serves as the tools of governments or the so-called"authority" to control the mass or retain their status in academician.All the resources and powers of the government ,no matter communist ordemocratic ,tend to be deployed to serve the interests of the political groupin control and also to deal with things that threaten the very survival of the state .Moreover ,the critique hasbecoming one of the most substantial resourcesused in heavy-handed
Control .Consider Voltaire's rejection ofShakespeare as barbaric because he didn't conformto neo-classical principles of unity .In short ,if the critical judgement ismisguided by the biased, quirky authority ,it has lost much of its value ,letalone of lasting value.

In sum, the artists are the creator of thegreat classics presenting us pleasure, eternal and universal insight. Incontrast, although the critics have both positive and negative affects on theartists' workers, they cannot lend substantiated credence to provide thelasting value to the society and human in history.

另外，这个是我的一家之言啊，不只可信否，脑子里刚冒出来的，既然题目是艺术家和评论家，那么我们不妨再说它们的时候对比着说，比如——评论家会受政府控制，但艺术家往往有一种气概，能坚持自己的追求而不受外界影响
