Firstly, it is the work of art made by artists, such as novels, films, music, paintings, etc, not the critic, has some inherent value in certain respect. The thing, which could touch our heart or maybe arose our strong feeling deep inside, is the work of art. the work of art is not only the beauty itself, but also creates beauty. Art entertains people in so many different ways, for example of novels, films, music, paintings, etc, all of which play the role of the source of our recreation and amusement, and also the psychic wealth of society. By listening to our favorite music, no matter classic, the jazz, or rock and roll, we can not only enjoy the melody and free our tension and anxiety, but also maybe set our mind free and be a new source of creativity. Artist can create great work regarded as a sign of eternal value in a society.
Without the production of the artist, the critics totally have nothing to do. The critics themselves probably do not join in the creation of any work. The work of art bears the weight of the value, which made by the artist. So, I believe in other words we can say that the artist creates the value.
However, the critic also contributes to the artists' valuable things in some respect. Firstly, a critic, especially those with lots of experiences and the professional ability, can provide constructive criticism and feedback for artists. With those criticisms, whether apposite or inapposite, the artist may create better work for us. Secondly, critics can help us understand and interpret art. There are so many new information and art of work created every day. Which art is worth our time and attention? The critics help us solve this problem.
In summary, artists bring all kinds of art for us and the critics tell us which worth our time and attention and how to evaluate them. Both of them are necessary to this society.
