题目:ISSUE48 - "The study of history places too much emphasis on individuals. The most significant events and trends in history were made possible not by the famous few, but by groups of people whose identities have long been forgotten."
提纲:1一些名人在历史上起着重要作用;
2.但是,如果没有民众的支持,个人很难取得成功;
3.历史是由人民创造的。
The question that who actually made the most important events and trends in history possible is always fiercely debated. Some people think the famous few took this credit, while others think the groups of people, with their identities long been forgotten, made these significant events possible in the history, as the author asserts. In my opinion, celebrities in the history are indubitably important, however, it is the groups of people who create the history.
Celebrities in the history played an important role when the most significant events and trends in history were about to be made possible. The famous few, those emphasized individuals, are always those with foresight and ambition. They guide the public to strive for a bright future. Consider the significant contribution of George Washington in the American Revolution. Without his preeminent maneuver, the victory of the American independence war would be delayed. There is also no doubt that Abraham Lincoln, considered as one of the greatest presidents of the USA did a excellent good job in his position, so the slavery could be abolished. These famous few’s consistent effort made them immortalized in the history.
However, nobody could succeed without the help of ordinary people. When the most important events and trends in the history are about to be made possible, those who have obtained money and high status will definitely carry out any measure they could to against the revolution in order to maintain their power. Thus, the enemies of the truth-fighter are powerful, and even seems to be unbeatable at the very beginning. No individual can defeat these enemies alone. Consider George Washington and Abraham Lincoln again. Without the sacrifices of the public who adhered to these leader’s aims, how could they succeed? Undoubtedly, both of them played a leading role in these revolutions, however, it is should be conceded that the individual's power is not sufficient enough for success.
Further more, groups of people are those determinative powers in the most essential events. As we concede the individual power, especially those famous few, it is indubitable that the groups of people play determinative role in these events. The public, who adhere to the famous few, are those who truly fight, sacrifice if needed, without considering their own safeties. Every process of the revolutions in the history can elaborate this point of view. At the beginning, the adherents of the celebrities are limited; the revolutions are suffered in serial of defeats. As more and more people joined in, breakthrough accompanied.
In sum, the study of history should never neglect the emphasis on individuals, for the famous few always play significant roles in the history; however, scientist should also place attention on groups of people whose identities have long been forgotten, they are the real history creator.
