     Issue212. If a goal is worthy, and then any means taken to attain it is justifiable

      The speaker is in favor of the view that it is justifiable to attain a goal by any means if the goal is worthy. It is true that take great pain to attain a worthy goal is justifiable, but I tend to oppose this point .In my point of view, both the definition of worthy and understanding of justifiable are dubious that may led to a disorder if each would take different measures that he regard worthy to achieve an aim. On the other hand, as individuals in our society, we should take legality and rationality into account when we try to gain a goal.
      To begin with, the first problem of the speaker's claim is that each people have so various perspectives on what is worthy. Not only does it lies on personal educational and social background, but also rests with their faith and value system to guide them to set a goal. To assume, qua scholars, their worthy goal may be to makes great achievements in their academic fields that they can exert positive and profound influence on our society .While qua terrorists; their worthy goal is threatened use of force or violence, even use "human bomb", against people or property with the intention of intimidating or coercing societies or governments. Maybe someone expresses opinion that his or her goal is worthy and others takes the opposite view, but whatever else may be said, it is human’s basic right to set one’s own goal and freely pursue it, no one could deny it.
     Moreover, although someone becomes aware of these goals are worthy indeed, it does not mean that attain it by any means including some violation of moral regulations and laws. Justifiable as the process of attaining these goals, people such as leaders and others should root in their minds that they can do nothing to have a negative effort on the benefit of other. However, such as in politic, the goal of achieving control or power, more or less, cannot be attained by illegal means or at the expense of social well being. Maybe, it is justifiable for a political unit or group to achieve its intrigue by damaging to a government or state. In that, hardly does it identical that the understanding of justifiable may determine our mind.
     Deep down, in some case, the means taken should be consistent with the ends in view. In the academic fields, it is justifiable to achieve a scholarship, but, would the justification of the goal justify the means of plagiarism, cheating or fabrication to gain the goal? In fact, such actions would be subject to severity of legal remedy and social condemnation. When it comes to reducing birthrate in developing country, would it be justifiable to compel the citizens to undergo an operation that would deprive them of the function of procreate? Thus, this public policy would lead to endanger the social stability.
     To sum up, the speaker is no fixed standard for the definition of wealthy and the understanding of justifiable, and it is simply to assert that any means taken to attain a worthy goal is justifiable. It is not restrained people from attain goal, yet we should take gain and loss into consideration when we set a goal and take means to attain it. In the actions of achieve a goal ,we might do it within the allowance of moral standards and principle’s regulation, and even more severe, the existence of law. So it is justifiable that one could strive to attain a positive goal as long as under deliberation.
