whether college faculty should spend time working outside the academic world in professions relevant to their fields, depends primarily on the specific academic area. With respect to the appropriate fields, I strongly agree with the statement. However, some others which are benefit little from working outside the academia is not necessarily required to do so.

Admittedly,considering some academic fields such as economics , engineering and computer and so forth,  it is worthwhile that college faulty to work outside the academia in the professional positions related to their field. After all, there are some benefits of doing so. First, through actively engaging in their fields, faulty can bring fresh ideas to their class. Moreover, they bring to their students practical, vivid examples of the principles and theories discussed in the textbooks. it will help students to understand better what they are learning and know more new ideas, and then rouse their interest of exploring the world of knowledge.

Secondly, by keeping pace with the changing demands of outside world, faculty can clearly and exactly know what work as a professional call for. Accordingly, they can help students who are going to pursuit a career in that field to make more informed decisions. Faculty who have more experiences in the field can give their students more useful, up-to-date information about the demands of work in the filed, and even about the current job market.

Nevertheless, as for certain academic areas, it is no necessary to be required to work outside the academia.  Whether faculty in a field should be required to work outside the academia in professional related to their academic field relies on that every academic field has respective characteristic of its own. For those who work in the pure theoretical fields such as theoretical mathematics, theoretical physics which are considerably abstract, it is no meaning to require them to spend time working outside the academia. Moreover what work outside the academia is there for them? Most needed in these fields is thought rather than practice. If doing so, it may distract them from their research work that they should concentrate on in the academia so that they miss the most important task.

In sum, except for some academic fields in which outside work is either unnecessary or unavailable, students will benefit from faculty's working outside the academia in professions related to their field.

总体感觉不错，比较清晰，字数上吃一些亏。还有就是论证多样，但更加detail一些我感觉会更充实。但是还算是一篇不错的issue文章。
