TOPIC: ISSUE83 - "Government shouldpreserve publicly owned wilderness areas in their natural state, even thoughthese areas are often extremely remote and thus accessible to only a fewpeople."
WORDS: 600 TIME: 00:00:00 DATE: 2008-4-7下午 12:15:07
I fundamentally agree and advocate what thespeaker claims that publicly owned wilderness areas should be preserved bygovernment in their natural state. To preserve wilderness can keep the naturebalance there, possess value of geologic and gain huge amounts of energyresources.
To begin with, it is no wonder that thereare various species in wilderness areas, also containing a lot of preciousanimals or plants. The reason they successfully conserve the completely speciesis due to the ecosystem is well protected. Common sense tell us that everyspecie play an important role in food chains, which is a closely correlationbetween the prey and the predator. The wilderness areas provide such completelyand varieties kinds of food chains so that lots of animals and plants are wellsurvived, including some precious species. If wilderness areas are unfortunatelydestroyed and the balances of food chains are disturbed, several speciesdisappear, without the protection of the government. that the ecosystems inwilderness areas are destroyed are never be a dream and will come to. Thus, thegovernment should protect wilderness areas in order to maintain the balance ofecosystem and preserve the precious species.
In addition, such wilderness areas innatural state possess attributive to geologic and historic research. Bydetecting the composition in a stone which researchers discover in Grand Canyon, Colorado, which is priceless from the geological view, can we get the fact that theformation of the Canyon completed and ended before remote ancient times.Meanwhile, researchers also can explore some plants' or animals' fossils inwilderness areas. People can ancient species' life habit through research thesefossils which possess a great value on the demonstration of a theory ofevolution. In short, if people want to obtain more and more knowledge aboutancient times, the protection of the wilderness areas should be adopted firstof all.
What's more, by a comparison withstatistics can we draw a conclusion that the wilder an area is, fewer peopleare accessible to, the more resources it will store. As we all know that the development of thesociety is highly reliable on the utilization of resources such as the raremetal, petroleum and natural gas and the like. We take the advantage of raremetal to manufacture hi-tech products; we explore and refine huge a mount ofoil or natural gas in order to provide the continuous energy for factories' regular running and residents' dailylife. Consequently, the government should not overlook the possibility thatwilderness areas store abundant resources so they need well persevered.
Finally, does it true whether thosewilderness areas are too remote for people to accessible? so many various kindsof vehicles can afford people that theycan reach anywhere if they desire to. The remote of the wilderness areas, actually, just means a mental distance. In the past time, people alwaysasserted that wilderness areas are full of the danger and reluctant to have atrip there. However, people at present begin curious and interested in thereand yearn for a natural, restful life, while they are tired with living andworking in the city because of the pressure from work and poor environmentwhich is destroyed by humans themselves. If decades even hundreds or thousandspeople decide to spend holiday or trip to the wilderness areas, the governmenthas to consider to preserve there, as well as to protect their citizens.
In sum, I reaffirm that I agree thespeaker's claim and government must protect the wilderness areas in naturalstates no matter how far from us as reasons what I mentioned above. |
