5.22 HongKong F-1 全奖EE 诡异的check

先报背景，国内本科毕业，06年在香港读了一个by course的Msc，拿到学位，然后紧接着转成Mphil的program，继续读一年，今年八月毕业。
签证过程，
早上起了大早，大约8：15到花园道总领馆，之后交表领号，大约9点样子进入领馆。按完指纹后继续等待叫号，大约9点40轮到我。面我的是
个黑哥们，好像F-1都是他面的。前面几个兄弟都被问了比较长的时间，虽然最后都过了，但这个VO绝对不水。
先主动打招呼，
我：Good morning，sir.
vo: Hey good morning, so what are u going to do in US.
Me: I am study for a Ph.D degree in University of Illinois at Chicago,
vo: what is your major?
Me: My Major is electroinc engineering, and my research interest is wireless communication, to be more specific the wideband technique. It is very attractive nowadays in peoples' lives, one example is the wireless usb, it makes your laptop get rid of limited usb
port..
vo 弄电脑中。。。
vo：you studied Ms in HKUST?
me: Yeah.
vo: How long have studied for MS?
me: 迟疑一下，one year and a half, or will be 2 years by August..(怀疑就是这里有问题，没有及时解释两个master 的关系）
vo: do you have any proof of your research?
me: (有点晕了，可是找study plan），well I have a study plan, do you want see it?
vo: Ok, bring your research proof to counter 9(小秘窗口）， I have to give you a form because your research is high technique,
we need additional processing on it, this is very usual in communications, so don't worry.
然后就把我的护照递出来了。
之后我就到九号窗口把resume， offer letter, advisor information, study plan 交了，但小秘把我的护照退了回来，这个就比较奇怪了不是说check是不退护照的吗？
另外小秘给我了一个条，让把travel itinerary传真过去，请问这个就是你准备哪天飞，和航班号吗？
根据我的分析，所为专业敏感不过是个幌子，check我是不是觉得我隐瞒学历有移民倾向呢？
请达人帮我分析一下，相当的郁闷啊
