Issue 40
今天的作业写得太滥了,字数实在太少了,不过仍在内努力中,见笑了。
In my point of view, I agree with that scholars and researchers should attach great importance on pursuing their interests which have the strong impetus for researches. However, these pursuit should not consist of evil interests which may do harm to human beings or the whole society.
Common sense tells us that interest is an indispensable factor to succeed. Without interest, researchers can hardly overcome a great many of frustrated experiments and finally obtain achievements. Interest which serves as continuous motivation endows people with considerable passion to insist on pursuit. For instance, English naturalist, Darwin whose interest is studying natural history, through many years’ accumulating and assimilating data, resulted in the formulation of his concept of evolution.
Sometimes, it is hard for scientists to value the direct social significance of their researches since they are only pursuing to discover the unknown field of scientific world. In fact, most discoveries were the byproducts in the process of other research.
In 1928, English biologist Alexander Fleming did not prepared to discover penicillin. However, he isolated the antibiotic substance penicillin from the fungus Penicillium when he was culturing Staphylococcus spp in the laboratory, for which he shared a Nobel Prize.
However, in modern society, science has the ability to significantly impact on every aspect of our lives and works. Therefore, any evil and treacherous interests which might result in wicked and immoral influence should be excluded or even eliminated. And with regard to contributing to our society, social conventions, ethic commitments and natural principles must be strictly observed by scientists and researchers.
