The first word a baby utters may be "mama" or "dada”, which means that the parents are the first ones who taught the child in his life.Indeed, the parents give their children love and care, breed them up and cultivate them as well. Though many people believe that parents’ behaviors may have negative effects on their children, I totally agree that parents are the best teachers.
First of all, parents are the strongest models and have the great impact on their child. How can a child learn to speak or stand? They imitate their parents and their behavior reflects parents. It’s obvious that a child goes through many milestones in their lives with their parents such as the first step, the first word, the first scribble and so forth. Without the instructions of parents, children can hardly speak or walk, not to mention the accumulation of knowledge.
Secondly, the precious values like honesty, integrity, discipline, obedience, loyalty are passed on by parents to their children. The parents may keep on telling kids to be honest from the times when the child began to wonder. They tend to tell fables or stories to covey those moral characters. Children won’t forget the poor Pinocchio with his long nose caused by his dishonesty. I bet that, for a long time, the kids dare not lie to anybody.
Thirdly, parents can offer their help by supporting or encouraging their child during the hard times. Most of the times, we rely on our parents financially until we can make a living and take care of ourselves. Also,we need mothers’ chatter and fathers’ inspiration in the daily life. Whenever we feel frustrated, the first ones we think of are probably our parents. They always lend an attentive ear to us.
From what has discussed above, it is definite that parents plays an key role in their children’s life and they can’t be replaced by any body else. Virginia Satir once wrote that “Parents teach in the toughest school in the world: The School for Making People. You are the board of education, the principal, the classroom teacher, and the janitor,” Parents shape the child’s character, life and future. They are the best teachers. |
