TOPIC: ISSUE7 - "The video camera provides such an accurate and convincing record of contemporary life that it has become a more important form of documentation than written records."

Compared with written records, the video camera provides more direct record of contemporary  life, which the author believes accurate and convincing. However, sometimes, it is not the same case, since when only part of an event is recorded, though actually and directly, other parts are unknown to people, which means inaccurate at all and sometimes even mislead us. Video records and written record both has some limits and we should combine them in order to better know things.

Written record has it shortages, since it is written by people who might have some prejudice about some things. So different people might write down things in different ways, adding their beliefs and judgment about what they have seen and heard. At the same time, video records remember things though the eye of a machine which is believed to be precise. For instance, sometimes when we what to know a concert of a famous singer, what people writes about it is totally different and some may think it terrible, while others highly praise it. To get our know judgment about the quality of this concerts, we'd better see the video records and appreciate songs through our own eyes. So video record has its advantages over written records, since it is not influenced by personal judgment.

There are other reasons why more and more people choose video to record things and events. We all know that video can not only records pictures, but remember movements and sounds. Our contemporary life is various. We need both write down what has happened and record what is going on with a camera. Thanks to the records of camera, the talents of a singer are not only records by books that he or she is very intelligent and smart, they are also proved and remember though songs recorded by camera. Apparently, the latter matters most. That is to say, with a camera, songs have life like building which can say about itself.

But camera has its disadvantages as well. Fist of all, things happened in the past would never possibly records by cameras, but we can write down what happened through the memories of people who has seen it. In such case, human beings are more like a camera that can record past things and events.
Secondly, it is different and sometimes impossible for a camera to records all respects of a events.  For instance,

Finally, we can not record thoughts and ideals that behind our contemporary life. We need know about things, but sometimes most importantly, we have to analyze things and generalize things systematicly. After seeing events records by cameras, we need to analyze them. What's more, we can write down our thoughts and ideas about the event.

In sum,  video records and written record both has some limites and we should combine them  in order to better know of contemporary life.
