TOPIC: ISSUE51 - "Education will be truly effective only when it is specifically designed to meet the individual needs and interests of each student."


I don’t agree the author's assertion above.
Admittedly, each student will benefit much from the education if his individual needs is perfectly meet. Every student is conceived in different region and different families. Their parents and neighborhoods are different. For example, children in Chinatown will be infused much of the culture and traditions of Chinese, and so does their peer friends around. Their parents might prefer to teach them Chinese as their first language so that they won't be totally foreigners to them. However, those students live nearby who go to the same school with the Chinese child may find that it is too easy to get an higher score than Chinese since they parties more. Accordingly, it would be surely unjust for those Chinese guys if they get the same courses and exams as native students. They would probably get bored and dislike attending classes on English which in turn leads to a barrier against the development of learning in English. It should be effective only when education is designed specifically to meet every special students at different stages of learning process.

However, the limitation of resources of education is so obvious that it will be costly and exhaustible to meet every individual needs according to their situation. The situation depends on the finance support of the student. Education may be better if the school students attended is private school on the grounds that those private schools have ample of money and what worrying them is not how efficient it would be to reduce the cost but how effective with such great amount of teachers. And diversity of students is acceptable and appreciable. Almost every individual need of student will be consider seriously. Nevertheless, it is not the case when in public school or the schools of poverty regions. Training and Drilling for the careers are the utmost purpose for not only the students but also the parents and schools. They don't have time to think about specific students who need special cares.

Moreover, the designers of education can never be aware of all possible needs of students. So does the curriculum. What they can do is to tell the learners how to find what they truly need, in other word how to be an effective self-educator. And in turn, students have special needs or attempt to achieve their own goals have to learn the way in which they can reach the goal rather than counting only on the schools or teachers. Only through this way can the learning or educating be truly effective both in the time of school or outside the school.

To sum up, there exists no such a kind of education.
