There is a trend that young couples would prefer to live independently rather than to live with their families including their parents, aunts and uncles. So here comes a heated debate whether extended families will give ways to nuclear families. In my perspective, the number of extended family will continuously fall down because of its less importance and my reasons are as follows.

To begin with, the enhancement of economy leads to the fact that young generation of people can afford expenditures of a family. Prosperity of economy in recent decades increases incomes of residents. In this manner, young couples can afford to rent a house or an apartment, or even by one. As a result, there is no need for them to share a house with their parents in limited spaces. Moreover, economy independence resulting from the growth of personal finance causes the independence of families. Since young people have their own sufficient salaries, hardly would they like to go on spending their parents' money. Therefore, the importance of extended families is diminished.

The second reason why I agree with the idea of less importance of extended family is because extended family usually has conflicts among their family members. While nuclear family that features fewer families would have less possibility of such problem. For instance, when a big family plans a travel, possible is it that young couple prefer to Chicago; while their parents are fond of Florida; what is worse, uncles and aunts are in favor of a journey to San Francisco. Rarely can the whole family reach an agreement. Nevertheless, this does not usually happen in a nuclear family by reason of its fewer members.

In addition, the employment of advanced communication technologies makes it possible for families to contact with one another conveniently. With the help of modern communication technique such as mobile phones and emails, family members can talk with one another freely even when they are hundreds of miles away. Considering the fact that convenience of modern communication technique as well as its low prices promotes their deep pervasion into our society, it is no longer necessary for family members to stay together to make face-to-face communications.

In sum, both development of economy and improvement of communication technologies contribute to the secondary role extended families play in the current society. Based on the analysis above, I am convinced that there is an increasing number of nuclear families.

这一段我觉得你举出来的例子不能证明小家庭的优越性。你可以更简单点，从生活习惯的角度上展开。比如晚上老人要很早就休息了，这样使得其他人没办法娱乐。而且虽然是一家人，但是父母和叔婶不能等同，有的时候一家三口需要更多的私人空间。
