在当今这个社会，人们越来越重视外貌及时尚。你是否同意？给出例子及原因（2006 年1 月6 日）


Whether or not people are becoming more and more concerned about their appearance and fashion nowadays is a complex which has generated a heated debate. The opponents claim that the rapid pace of modern society makes people have less time to care about their look and fashion. As far as I am concerned, contrary to many people, the general public now have the sufficient money and enough time to care about their appearance and fashion.

The first reason supports my opinion is that the clothes are much more colorful and comfortable than before due to the rapid development of the clothes materials and more talented designers, and it is becoming more and more attractive to the general public. It is a fact that the individuals are paying more attention to their clothes, and taking a lot of spare time to seek for the most popular costumes. There is no doubt that people all have a heart that seeking for the beauty. As a result, the individuals tend to spend a lot of time in the shopping mall to find these clothes they like.

It constitutes another reason for my argument that mature adults, especially the women, care about their face very much and take a great deal of time to the makeup. In order to avoid the bad effects resulted from the degradation of the environment and to avoid been seen the gradually disappearance of the young and smooth skin, increasing amount of people resort to the help of makeup. Though it cannot completely stop the process, but it does make this process on the face a bit difficult to observed. That is the right point people want to get from the makeup. Apparently, this process will not stop and people will still pay so much attention to this stuff.

An equally essential factor which deserves people's attention is that the beautiful appearance and wonderful fashion is a reflection of a social status. All too often we observe that a high-ranking official always wears the formal suit, and the color is always the dark one. You will never find him in a white suit to attend a cocktail party of a summit meeting. The reason is that the his appearance can to some degree reflect his social status and his power in the country, or even in the world. It is essential for him to pay enough attention to his appearance.

In sum, form the discussion above, we can reach the conclusion that people are becoming more and more care about their appearance nowadays.
