电视应该是 educate还是entertain?

With the adent of the new era, TV, as the representive of the scientific invention, has been a integrate part of people 's lives. The phenomenon that children are willing to stay home watching the children program, but not to go out having a sport is very common. I want to point out, it is sure that entertaining people is one of the jobs of TV, but as the important way which can influence people in many aspects, its responsibility is more than that.

Primarily, TV has become a major way to spread the information, serving as the important media, it is its obligation to teach people something meaningful. In this case, not only the vast advertisement should be showed in the break of the TV series’, but also some big event happening in the world, such as the Policy just approved by the Congress. What is more, for those poor people in distant area, maybe the TV is the only way they can know more about the outside world.

Admittedly, TV can not be boring, people want to watch it because it bring them much pleasure, it is the prerequisite that TV be attractive to people. However, it is the very reason why TV also the good way to educate. Because people are willing to watch TV, but it is some kind of being educated in silence. In the term of the psychology, people are always being affected by the things they have watched or listened. For example, if a person always see the pornography, his mind will full of it, and thus his behavior will be altered in this way. So, the function of education will leads TV to enjoy more popularity.

It is also true that people watching TV and feel relaxed, sometimes it is the solely entertaining program let them feel pleasure, but in more time, there are other things make them much more desire for TV, such as the true love, the team spirit, the adventurous hero in the TV show. They are not merely the science fiction figure, but the things that lack in the society, and those programs mean to light those believes in people's mind. So it is hard to imagine, if only the entertaining program in TV, what attitude will people to toward TV, nothing more than a machine, without any meaning.
