Advertisements waste money and time of companies because the consumers know what they want to buy.

Today it is hardly for us turn over our head without seeing any advertisement, and they have reach every corner of our society and our life. So people may hold the opinion that the advertisement waste money and time of companies because the consumers know what they want to buy, however, I disagree with it.

For one thing, the consumers usually don’t really know what to buy especially when a new product released. A new product usually embodies something different, either serving a new function or advancing some traditional aspect. However, at the time when it is released, most consumers don’t familiarize with it, or even don’t know it, while this new product may match his condition the most. I would like to take my experience for an example. When the mobile operator China Mobile introduced a new service which would remind me if I have gotten a new email in my mailbox, I don’t know it, and I’m bothered at checking it time after time. This condition has changed a lot since I saw their advertisement. I quickly bought this service as I thought it introduced a good product to me.

For another, advertisement can usually change their mind when the consumers determine which to buy, even though they are quiet clear at what kind of products to buy. Now we have so many products in the market, and to a single need of the consumers, usually a large range of products from different companies can satisfy it. So the consumers are puzzled at this problem, which product should I buy, from so many choices? At this time the advertisement make sense. Survey has shown that mostly on this condition, the consumers will buy the product which is introduced in the advertisement. For example, there are so many anti-virus software in Chinese market, such as Rising, KV and so on. But survey shows that Rising has a large share in the market since its advertisement.

In general, advertisements mostly help the consumers when determining what to buy, and this will increase the sale of the product. However, this would make sense though advertisement would spend some money and time.
