Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? People should pay to use the public transportation.

With the development of the society, transportation has played a more and more crucial role in people’s daily life. At the same time more and more people are able to afford a private transportation vehicle such as an automobile. However I strongly suggest that people should pay to use the public transportation.

First of all, it is a noble behavior to support the environment protection by using the public transportation. Nowadays, the environmental condition is so serious that some people predict that we human beings will ruin ourselves by polluting the air, the water and so forth. The fact is that the transportation vehicles discharge so many different gases which would pollute our air. And on the other hand, nearly all the vehicles have to discharge these gases. The only way to moderate this effect seems to discharge less, and this is the point since the public transportation hit the target when compared with the private ones. Although a single public transportation, a bus for instance, may discharge an absolute larger amount of noxious gases than a private automobile does. However, when taking the population they serve into account, for example, a bus carries 30 people while a car serves 2 on average, the public transportation discharges relatively far less than the private transportation. Hence by using the public transportation, people protect the environment indirectly.

Further more, it is relatively much safer to use the public transportation, and these also would benefit all around. Statistic data shows that nearly 80% of all traffic accidents are directly caused by private automobiles, and the rest are more or less has something to do with those private cars. To understand this phenomena, all one has to do is to think the circumstance in the traffic. Today’s road has become more and more crowded because of the rapid increase of the total number of vehicles, this serious condition has severely increased the risk of accident. However, it is those private automobiles that worsen the traffic.  The more people using the public transportation, the fewer vehicles on the road, and the safer we will be.

Though people may insist that the private transportations offers some advantages such as convenience and the symbolic of the social status, yet they can be ignored when compared to those of the public transportation. Therefore, we strongly suggest that people should pay to use public transportation rather than private means.

哎呀，这个题目我也写得是take public transportation 的好处。
我觉得问题是问公众是否应该使用 public transportation ？并不是问是否要付费吧
