What is the function of education? Why do we raise our kids by educating them? How comes we no longer need to emphasize the importance of education? People hold the opinion that we educate the next generation as we realize it is crucial. Moreover, we are enjoying the convenience accompany with the modern science and technology, which could never exist without the enlightening of education. But do education only enable us to duplicate the great thought, or just handle certain machines? Actually, the education means to raise human beings to be responsible individuals.

One can never be regarded as responsible if he just copy the ancestors' thought or simply knows how calculate calculus with existed method but thinking beyond the external phenomena or even beyond the question itself. If the science and technology are the engines of a F1 car, the thinking or philosophy would be the driver that decide where our society go, whether the ending of human society or to a dreamland.  One can never be regarded responsible even he is so gifted to create the chemical weapon and proliferate it without warrant. One can never be regarded as responsible even he is so hard working to invent a plastic bag that bring our world to disaster. Both should be regarded as failure of the education rather than that of scientific creation. The best education should be, as Albert Einstein mentioned, equipping the students with the basic knowledge of a scientific area as well as the ability to think, to prove, to integrate and to doubt. Only with the skepticism can one decide to proliferate a chemical weapon or not, can one feel his responsibility of the society, and can the education be regarded as a success.

Even in the area of scientific research, let the issue of human society's destiny alone, one should always be skeptical. Actually, many scientific discoveries are based on the skepticism of once thought eternal axioms. The Prince Henrique challenged that there would be no waterway down in the Africa and his armada finally found the Cape of Good Hope. Even me, as a college student, once challenged a computer program, which cost me 3 days to figure it out as an error, from a book and finished my invention. The skepticism plays a so vital role but the currently students are so in lack of the ability. Set me as an example once again, I should challenge the book the first time I got puzzled, however, 'the book may be wrong' thought came the last as I have tried every possible way to explain it, which wasted me 3 days.

Admittedly, one accepting the way of passive education contributes to the high score of Chinese students of the entrance examination. But it also contributes to the less creativity of college students. We are always waiting for the teacher to give us the best answers instead of finding one ourselves. Actually, there is no limit of searching for a best answer if we keep thinking. The passive education can bring us to be qualified machine handlers or program writers after graduation but never a responsible person who try to perfect our world by creative something new or by challenge the existed axioms and methods. It is even pathetic that seldom do we realize it and seldom do we think it matters.

In sum, the significance of skepticism should be the only issue that should not be doubt. The ability to think, to prove and to doubt decide the future of our society while it is so serious a problem that needed to proliferate when educating, otherwise I can see no hope of reach the future dreamland.
