It is more important for students to understand ideas and concepts than it is for them to learn facts.
超时了5分钟。觉得写乱了..感谢提出修改意见。

Some say that students should pay more attention on understanding ideas and concepts than just remembering facts. As far as I'm concerned, I absolutely agree with this idea. Here are my reasons.

First, we should ask ourselves, what's the exact purpose of education? The answer is quite simple, to make the students useful. Then what qualities do we need to be useful? My answer is the ability to think and analysis problems, then find information and materials to solve the problems. A student may be able to pass the exams in school by memorizing the facts from the text books, but when it comes to practical work, the facts you have remembered are always far from enough. However by understanding ideas and concepts, we can find solutions more efficiently. For example, a country is facing a economic crisis, the leaders can't decide what to do directly since the problem is more complicated than facts from books and experiences. So they try to analysis the problem with the concepts of economy phenomenon and rules of economy. Then they can find out the cause and solution. The point is from facts you can only know what to do when facing the exact problems, but you don't know why. And when the problems change a little or become more complicated, the facts won't help that much. So it's more useful and efficient to understand ideas and concepts.

Second, we should understand the relation between concepts and facts. I think the facts are always serving as examples for us to understand and remember the concepts in a better way. In return, we can use concepts to explain facts. For example, when learning chemistry, we can use the fact oil don't dissolve in water to understand the different chemical qualities of them. Then we can use the concept of their differences to explain other phenomenon. Since the facts are examples and phenomenon, they are not as important as ideas and concepts during our learning.

In conclusion, since we learn for solving various problems in practical work, the ideas and concepts are more useful than facts. Also concepts are playing a more basic role during our study. That’s why I think students should focus on understanding ideas and concepts rather than remembering the facts.

First, we should ask ourselves, what's the exact purpose of education? The answer is quite simple, to make the students useful.(意思不妥,可以改成to make the students achieve useful knowledge) Then what qualities do we need to be useful? My answer is the ability to think and analysis problems, then find information (s)and materials to solve the problems. A student may be able to pass the exams in school by memorizing the facts from the text books, but when it comes to practical work, the facts you have remembered are always far from enough(far from enough可以这么写吗,不确定). Then we can use the concept of their differences to explain other phenomenon. Since the facts are examples and phenomenon, they are not as important as ideas and concepts during our learning (最后一句意思上不妥)
In conclusion, since we learn for solving(learn to solve或者learn of solving,没有learn for这种用法) various problems in practical work, the ideas and concepts are more useful than facts. Also concepts are playing a more basic role during our study. That’s why I think students should focus on understanding ideas and concepts rather than remembering the facts.
你思路挺好的,不过这篇文章太绕了,我个人感觉fact,idea,concept,这几个词的逻辑关系不明确,不好写,加油
