One of the most important duties of a university is to prepare its students for society. So, regarding to the issue stated above, some working experience in relevant professions helps college and university faculty to offer practical instruction to students.

To begin with, the purpose for education is using knowledge to solve practical problems. In today’s knowledge exploration world, people’s energy is too limited to learn all the knowledge. In this regard, faculties’ experience in relevant non-academic realms gives out the direction of their teaching arrangements, and concentrates on most important teaching materials, rather than those materials which would never be used in practice. A teacher in telecommunication will guide students on the application of this subject more effectively and efficiently if he or she has some working experience in a telecommunications company. Similarly, in the area of legal profession, solving a new case is more important, and a law student will learn more than studying a new law article. In short words, both the faculty and students will be benefited a lot on linking up theory with practice from teacher’s experience outside campus.

In addition, recently, the knowledge in published books often lags behind current development, an up-to-date knowledge is crucial for faculty to keep in the pace with the development of society’s requirement, to prepare students for this society. Take the example of computer technology, in which both software and hardware renew and update quickly, two years ago, computer’s system was mainly Windows XP, however, an increasing growth of Windows Vista system occupies the most part of market which was belonged to Windows XP. In this circumstance, it is wise for a software design faculty to teach students some relevant programming based on Vista, not XP. Again, in a modern art class, a tight eye with the most popular fashion element only makes students have  more chances to practice what they learned in class and understand knowledge better, also provide them a larger possibility to contact the art market’s requirement. So, outside working experience is necessarily for a better instruction for student to prepare for society.

However, over emphasis on the work outside the academic world will impair the normal teaching and education. These faculties will lack of enough time to prepare for their courses if they spend too much time on relevant non-academic fields. Moreover, without the support and guide of academic knowledge, experience is a castle in the air, and faculty is hard to make students acquire knowledge effectively. On the other hand, some fields like mathematics, classical literature, and history, mainly aim at pure academic realms. It is difficult for faculty to combine these courses with relevant professional fields outside campus. In this situation, just a little time, even non-time should be spent on the work outside.

Finally, besides teaching courses, faculty needs pay attention to other issues that may be appeared in the process of studying, such as plagiarism, the ability of dealing with emergency. Faculties will gain a better instruction effect if they can give students a comprehensive consideration.

In sum, appropriate working on the positions in relevant professional fields outside university and college considering will benefit faculties’ instruction.

这篇写的过程中提纲改了好几次，总觉得逻辑性不强，最后两点论证展开的也不好。拜托~~谢谢~~
