The speaker asserts that education will be truly effective only when it is specifically designed to meet the individual needs and interests of each student. One does not have to go very far to see the truth of this statement. We all see the lack of efficiency of current education form - "teacher-centered" education. To realize the "student-centered" education - truly effective education form we should meet the needs and interest of each student. But we can implement this only when the social productivity allows us to.

Traditional form of education is a controversial one which often ignores the needs and interests of individuals and turns out to be counterproductive. The curriculum that students are designed to learn is based on the demands of society instead of students themselves. It is entirely possible for a student to generate a reverse psychology when his interests or needs differ from what he is force to study. With the lapse of time patience are being worn out, leading to a result that much juveniles quits school not because they find no pleasure in learning but because they do not enjoy what they learn. Obviously this form of education is inefficient.

As an old saying goes, interest is the best teacher. Personal needs and interests are the most effective incentives to a student. Faraday - almost the most famous inventor in the history who broad his knowledge from chemistry all the way to physics, had not been to school for a single day. But interests drove him to learn all the knowledge by himself and went much further in the way of studying. In parallel, the dream to get out of village can turns out a powerful driving force for a country girl who wishes to be another Monroe Marilyn to devote herself into learning. If education is specifically designed to meet each student's needs and interests, individuals can all be involved into the learning process. This would be the "student-centered" education which can realize the true efficiency of education.

Admittedly, the "student-centered" education which is specifically designed to meet the individual needs and interests of each student is an ideal form of education. It will cost great social resources like labor and educational hardware. The current social productivity cannot afford this burden. It is necessary to greatly increase the social productivity if we want to realize the "student-centered" education. Meanwhile, current form of education is in accordance with this right aim. And, in addition, current form of education is capable to build a full-scale knowledge system which is a necessity for student to realize where their interests lay.

There are still several other aspects relevant to the issue under discussion, which, unfortunately, I have no time to explore in detail. But the above-discussed reasons should to a large extent justify the conclusion that education will be truly effective only when it is specifically designed to meet the individual needs and interests of each student. And, albeit this ideal form of education is unrealistic for the current social productivity, it is a long-term goal for us to realize it.
