TOPIC: ISSUE136 - "The absence of choice is a circumstance that is very, very rare."

In this argument the speaker raises an issue, the absence of choice is an circumstance that is very, very, rare. I fundamentally agree with the speaker's contention that the absence of choice is a rare circumstance. However, the speaker's conclusion is so absolute that overlooked a few extreme and special circumstances.

Admittedly, the "no choice" situation is infrequent, but is not never. Imagining the German during the Second World War under the Adolf Hitler's domination, the Jewish race has confronted massacre if they did not get away, in other words, living in German means dead. Confronting this situation, they have no choice but leaving their motherland. The same to the black slaves in the America, before the president Lincoln claimed the Emancipation Proclamation, and the Civil War, they cannot have a choice to not be born as a slave. These examples prove that although the "no choice" is rare circumstance, there are some factors can cause this situation.

However, even under the above circumstance, somebody still choose faceing to dead not to escape. Some Jews have given up the chance to escape. They have made a choice, living in the German and helping the Allies of World War 2 to overthrow the evil fascism. Many of them dead, but they have made a great choice for freedom.

In our daily lives, some people always claim that life leave them with "no choice". Is that true, life really do not leave them a choice? I don't think so. These people maybe feel trapped in a job or a marriage. Under the huge working pressure, one may claims that he or she has no choice but to change another easy job. It is not mean that he or she must change the job, but he or she wants to have a rest. If the company decides to pay twice at next month, he or she must be not to claim "no choice" but to work more and more harder than before.

Moreover, when some one claim they have no choice, the fact is that there are many choices but it is only one can make the most benefit or the other choices are unrealistic. Under this circumstance, people need to make a best choice which is valuable and easy to work. This situation is most possible happened when a company or a country is choosing a development scenario. Even in  this circumstances, the choice is not only one, it is just many of the choices are not appealing.

Finally, if we believe that in some circumstances there is no choice for us, then it is the same as we believe the fatalism and believe everything is settled before it happened. This is a catastrophe for our democratic country.

In sum, although there are some rare and extreme circumstance can cause "no choice" to a certain extent, the absence of choice is a rare circumstance in our daily lives.

In sum, although there are some rare and extreme circumstance can cause "no choice" to a certain extent, the absence of choice is a rare circumstance in our daily lives
