Topic 1，universities and colleges should spend less time teaching about general subjects and spend more time teaching about preparing for future career and jobs.  

    Nowadays, with the fiercely competitive reality in the job market, many people claim such kind of job-oriented opinion that universities and colleges should spend less time teaching about general subjects and spend more time teaching about preparing for future career and jobs. This opinion may seem persuasive confront the reality, however, I don't agree with it because of its short-sighted. I will illustrate my support reasons for schools should insist on teaching about general subjects as follows.

    First of all, the basic science discipline is needed for our education. Nowadays, as the development of free economic market, the general idea in the society is much prefer to the job-oriented education which induce the students to learn the knowledge out of more realistic aim. Thus, our education is becoming more like an industry that produces the workers and less students have the determination to stay on the scientific research, especially on some basic science areas which are crucial to the development of our society.

    What' more, there are many ways for the students strengthen their competition in the job market, such as different kinds of clubs in universities for job training, many chances of internships offered to school students during their summer and winter vacations, and the choice of having a break between school terms for job training. Comparing sacrificing the time for students learning basic subjects to that of preparing their career skills, those multiple activities seems more efficient and benefit the students from both science ability and future job competition ability.

     Another reason is that, considering the economy recession is becoming the main climate, job-oriented education seems short-sighted. Because no job is definitely a lasting one that deserve the students spending a lot of time to prepare for it. Otherwise, some newly generated jobs really need the talented people who have been well equipped trough abundant of basic subjects training. This kind of students may seem less competed in the beginning of their job, but they absolutely being much capable in their future contribution to the job.

     As all what I have mentioned above, I think universities and colleges should not spend less time teaching about general subjects and spend more time teaching about preparing for future career and jobs.

Topic 2: University students should be required to take basic science classes even they are not part of the field of the study.

    With the development of the free economic marekt, more and more people hold the realistic opinion that the unversity education should be more job-oriented and university students do not need to take basic science classes unless they are part of the field of the study. However, I hold the opposite opinion that will be explained as follows.     

    First of all, the future development of our society need the combination of knowledge from a variety areas.  For instance, as a journalist whose major may be journalism in university, but he or she would be likely face problems from different areas which requires he/she comprehend the basic science in the university education.The situation is same when it comes to the other careers, such as the doctors need know a little bit psychology and skills to communicate with patients, the egineer is better to  know the history thus he/she can disgn the popular products that have special culture background.
     
    What's more, students who attend to the university are the future elites in our society, and the depth of our society's development largely depends upon their knowledge range, which especially reflects on the quality of the future leader. As a leader, who indicate the general direction for the society's development, need be wll-known about the basic knowledge in most of the areas, neverthless, he/she will not make a wise decision that considering about all aspects of the society.  
     
     Another factor that can not be ignored is that the China education apartment is reconsidering about the policy of seperate education on science and art from high school, which has been enforced in China for more than 10 years. Nowadays, the adversity of this policy is more and more  obvious, and even some official claimed that if China continue to enforce that policy, the eqality of the whole nation will be lowered.
     
    To sum up, as university students who will  be devoted into the society development as the main strem, should be equipped with  basic science knowledge, which really relate to the future development of our society.
