64. Many people know how to attain success, but few know how to make the best use of it  

Nowadays, people always say that many people know how to attain success, but few know how to make the best use of it. Is that true? Different people may have diverse opinions according to their own experience and values. In my observation, this issue is much more complex than it seems. It has something to do with the definition of ‘best use of the success.

The first question is what success means in the title; let’s suppose that it is the kind of success recognized by the society or most of people. That is earning fame, power, and money through earnest effort. then, the next question is what kind of use of this fame and money is the best. This is a question hard to come to consensus, since everyone has his own pursuit. People prefer comfortable life would find using it for personal happiness is fine; people who are kind-hearted would feel donating some money will make them feel better; the ambitious would think the best use of the success is invest in the money and achieve more success.

In the real world, successful people are enjoying success in their own way. Someone see the best use of success is setting a good example for the whole society since the celebrities are always emulated by others. For example, Bill Gates makes himself a good model for the successful business man to contribute the society which credits them their success by continual donation for charities. Mother Teresa who wined the Noble Peace Prize in 1980 for her humanitarian work built up a model for helping the orphans and HIV/AIDS to build up their own home; and the former president Al Gore Warned human beings the pressing environmental problems by the famous film named an inconvenient truth using his fame. They are the ones who have made best use of their success, that is, making their own lives better and contribute to the well-being of society at the same time.

There are also people  who are using their success by hard work to make up the joys or entertainment they lost during the effort. For instance, Many famous sports and film stars abuse drugs after success for temporarily happiness. And there are also many successful businessmen who care only their own benefit, caring nothing about the environment or the needs of employees. When we look around, we may see that most of the successors are of this type—who are abusing success for no one’s sake. They themselves may say they are enjoying their success for their own sake. but if we see the fact that the flying fish –Michael Phelps might face up with the corner of suspension for smoking marijuana, we would see that this kind of usage is for nobody's sake.

Thus, in sum, although the definition of the best use of success is of high diversity and most of people are making use of their success in their own way, in fact, few are making the best use of it—making their own lives better and contribute to the well-being of society at the same time.
