Should government spend more money in support of arts than in support of athletics? Different people may response to this question variously from different perspectives or education levels. However, in my opinion, both arts and athletics should be sponsored.

On the one hand, arts should be sponsored for the following three reasons. First, arts can bring about a lot of advantages for human beings. For instance, we can become relaxed when we listen to some classic music after we have worked hard for a whole day. Second, some traditional arts are almost extinct because they are not profitable. But these arts are precious heritage inherited from our ancestors, so they should be sponsored by the government. Third, some artists are poor because their works are not accepted by the ordinary people, but sometimes their works are of great value. For example, the greatest Van Gogh, he lead a poor life when he was alive because his works were not accepted by the majority at that time. However, he was recognized as one of the most outstanding artist in history after his death. Therefore, if these poor artists can be sponsored by the governments, they may concentrate on creating art works, and it will undeniably improve the development of arts.

On the other hand, athletics should also be sponsored by the government for two reasons. Firstly, athletics can do good to the physical development of our human beings. It can help to make our body healthy and strong. Secondly, many infrastructures need to be built to provide the proper instruments for people to do sports. Thus, we can see that athletics should also be sponsored.

In conclusion, both arts and athletics should be sponsored by the governments to improve both physical and psychological health of the people and to attain other numerable benefits.
