等了一个学期,终于等到了自己觉得比较对胃口的课。美国的规划对于理论和数据要求很严格,反倒对于技术方面强调的不多,因为我是urban design concentration的,所以个人对和技术以及实例相关的东西更感兴趣一些。下面介绍一门PennDesign规划系的urban design concentration学生必修的一门课,CPLN 708-Urban Design Methods f, B3 o2 U6 M( h3 \( E

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
* I/ S" g! s' J3 Z. s+ {This course is designed as an introductory survey of urban design

2 H( z- D4 z, h( v( y& eThe first half of the course concerns issues and methods in urban design practice, situated either in

portion of the course include: design processes, land use controls and development standards, code* I$ j3 l) p o7 c. M
writing, regulation, design guidelines, non-computational representation techniques, design

and academic settings. We will review common models of research design within the field and the$ c1 ~& s+ `% ]9 l2 m
increasing use of social science methods in response to external pressures. Students will be exposed" V2 _4 i4 D$ O7 A' i: c2 r! b4 d
to various research methods used to understand and analyze urban form, social behavior and

including both morphology and typology. Both qualitative and quantitative methods will be examined7 ]1 a" T6 B- b/ {9 A
and built into course exercises.

V# ?& g, j/ k5 I( D" eothers who plan on working in positions dealing with project development, design, or long term
3 n, _6 g" @* Tplanning. No prerequisite courses are required for entry into the course, although some familiarity
