Along with the rapidly change of the whole world, we meet more challenges than before in our daily life, so it is worth to discuss how to solve a problem----using our own knowledge and experience or others advice? As to me, I always prefer to use my own experience, even though follow others advice is a good addition in solving problems.
Firstly, one can only use the skill from its own. To this point, I mean that it is necessary to build your own knowledge structure to deal with the problems. Because the hardness you meet is seldom the same your friends or parents meet, so their experience is limited or sometimes misleading the problem.
Secondly, knowledge and experience of you own can be enriched through time, when you meet a different situation; you find new ways and gained your knowledge. But advices from others are stable in the time and it is hardly worked well on your problem if you use it directly and do not digest by yourself.
Taking me for an instance, as I can not find a right way to a place, my mother's advice is always to asking a stranger for help, but sometimes they did not know the right way as well because they are just a pass-by. Imaging that I was at aboard, how can I find a man told me the right way especially in my language? So, her advice is not available all the time. To deal with this kind of problem, I always print a map with me or draw the route in my notebook; it is clear and more efficient to me to find the place. With this example, I want to say that the advice which others told you is used in a particular case sometimes, but only your own knowledge and experience can benefit you in most situation.
On the other hand, the others advice is helpful when your knowledge is not completed enough, so I say it is a good addition to your experience. But the problem is, you can not get other’s advice timely when you were in a special situation.
In short, to solve a problem, the knowledge and experience of your own is the main souse of ideas, in addition, other advices sometime can help your, but that is always not the best way.
