哎,今天做了一天实验,不过还是坚持写完了一篇作文,坚持就是胜利!
关于这个话题有很多话想说,所以没有计时,为了把思路写清晰一点,不过因为累了,没太注意语言。欢迎尽情的拍。
94. Universities should require every student to take a variety of courses outside the student's field of study because acquiring knowledge of various academic disciplines is the best way to become truly educated.
Today, people put more and more attention on the university education, because the study during one's campus life can pay a far-reaching impact on one's further life, from influencing his career decision to changing or establishing his values of the world. So it is of high necessity to discuss what is the best way to become truly educated.
I support the speaker to a large extent that students in universities should take a variety of courses outside their majors. Because almost every subjects have interaction between others, studying and absorbing the theories and ideas from other fields help students gain a deeper comprehension of their own fields. Frequently, different academic disciplines have their unique way to interpret a same question, and we often get inspired from the study of outside fields to solve the problems in our own majors and get a better understanding of other people's thoughts. For example, a student majoring in economy may comprehend the discipline of people's behaviors and trading strategies of enterprises in competition by using some mathematical models to make a quantitative analysis; a students majoring in psychology may learn people' mental respond to social phenomena well with the help of some knowledge of history, philosophy, and anthropology.
Furthermore, acquirement of knowledge of various academic disciplines is also the best way of being a true man with comprehensive quality and wider understanding of society. Before discussing the best way of being educated, we should discuss the objective of education first. Acquiring certain skills and specializing in one field can help us gain a content job and sufficient salary. But is it the only objective of education? Certainly not. We are not only study for work, but work for life, and for ideal. Before we become an employee, we must become a true man primarily- - a man with vigor and critical thinking spirit, a man with complete and rational values of the world, and a man with moral and ethical standards. Learning broadly can help us gain these qualities. For an chemical engineer, for instance, I concede the importance of studying applied chemistry and mechanism of machines, but it is at least as same important-if not more-for him to learn to appreciate the beauty of art, to gain experience and inspiration from the study of history, and to understand the ideals and impulses of society through learning economy and sociology.
However, the speaker should also take two factors bellowing into consideration to improve his statement. One is that the suggestion that one should take a variety of courses may not be applied for "every" student. There always will be some geniuses who have talent in specific field and educators should propose special ways for their education and personal development. If Qianzhongshu, one of the most famous Chinese
litterateurs in 20th century but ever failing in pass mathematical exams for many times when he was a student, had been forced to learn mathematics, he might never have created his great masterpiece "Fortress Besieged". One the other hand, the speaker must be awareness of the negative effect of acquiring knowledge of various academic disciplines- -that is, learn everything, but specialize in nothing, which oppose the initial goal of becoming truly educated. The principle of acquiring outside knowledge is that it will not intervene with the study of a student's own major. After all, only by fully mastering knowledge of one's own field can one make contribution to the society. A broader but vague study of academic branches perverts a student into an unuseful daydreamer.
In sum, acquiring a variety of knowledge is of great help to comprehend the study of one's own field, and for a further purpose, to get spiritual enhancement to understanding the meaning of life. But meanwhile educators should be aware of that not all students are applied for such way of being truly educated, and keep in mind that they ensure the students' fundamental education in their own majors are not interrupted by learning too much outside knowledge- - worser over than never. |
