据闻这所新开设的法学院还没有得到ABA承认。

Accreditation

The UC Irvine School of Law will seek accreditation from the American Bar Association as soon as possible, a process that takes place over a three- to five-year period. Under ABA rules, no law school may be considered for accreditation until it is in its second year of operation. It is our intention to apply for accreditation during our second year and our hope to be provisionally accredited at the end of that academic year. Full accreditation requires full compliance with all ABA standards after having been provisionally approved for at least two years. A student at a provisionally approved law school and an individual who graduates while the school is provisionally approved are entitled to the same recognition given to students and graduates of fully approved law schools.

The dean is fully informed as to the Standards and Rules of Procedure for the Approval of Law Schools by the American Bar Association. The administration and the dean are determined to devote all necessary resources and in other respects to take all necessary steps to present a program of legal education that will qualify for approval by the American Bar Association. The law school makes no representation to any applicant that it will be approved by the American Bar Association prior to the graduation of any matriculating student.

坦白說，雖然Irvine看起來應該有九成半以上機會能取得ABA accreditation，可是如果有更好的學校給了offer而又不用愁錢的問題，那當然不用想Irvine了。問題是，不一定所有學校都會給全獎啊，而且，UC Irvine免學費兼免宿費看來也就是今年的事，來年也不一定有了，再者，它很可能就是因為未有ABA accreditation才會有這個policy，accreditated之後恐怕馬上就要和其他law schools學費看齊了。

This institutional student aid award is a full scholarship for all three years of study provided that admitted permanent residents and U.S. citizens meet the following eligibility criteria: (1) enroll in at least 12 units of coursework each semester; (2) remain in good academic standing based on criteria developed by the School of Law; and (3) qualify to graduate in Spring, 2012.

免费是真免，不过学过经济的都知道天下没有免费的午餐。且不说是否接受国际学生，没有ABA认证其实也是小事，更重要的是UCI法学院目前连座法学楼都没有，更不要提自己的law library了。这些设施在三五年内都不可能建成。如果实在经济上困难，那不防考虑，否则的话三思。在这里度过三年不会让你有一个很强的law school experience。

哈？LLM是给已经在国内律所有执业经验的人或是将来要回国发展的律师们镀金用的。JD是给以后打算留在美国或是进美国律所执业的人做准备的。两个学位针对的是完全不同的市场。不懂别瞎白话儿。
