The writer based on the selling only in newest store and a national wide survey which telling people have preference for home made cheeses to conclude that the cheese stores would make more benefits if they focus on the home made cheeses rather than foreign ones, which we may find the conclusion unfounded after looking into seriously.
At the beginning, the writer assume that the home made cheeses are the best sellers only based on the selling’s of the newest store, which actually have many other possibilities. Maybe because the newest store's workers are best at making the home made and less familiar with other cheeses which could also result in best selling, or maybe the best selling result from cheaper price, etc. Without ruling out such possibilities we can not simply conclude that people like the home made cheeses is the reason that they are best sellers. Even the customers actually buy the cheeses because of the taste, the smell, the cheese it self, until we have the market share over whole city can we not rashly conclude only based on one store, which is newly open. We cannot deny the possibilities that different stores have different selling conditions, it is totally possible in all other stores the best selling cheese is imported cheese.
Furthermore, a national wide survey indicated people have increasing preference for domesticate cheese. The writer did not mention the comparison figure between the imported cheese and domesticate cheese, maybe although the preference for home made cheeses has indeed increase, it still have a long way to go to catch up with the imported cheeses. What is more, people who have preference for home made cheeses does not definitely mean people would buy ones. The action of buying determined on many other conditions, for example, people would sacrifice preference for domesticate cheese being much more expensive than imported ones.
Even though the best sellers are all domesticate cheeses and people have
much more preference for the domesticate over the imported cheeses, we can not concluded that the best way to improve profits is to focus on the domesticate market and give up stocking imported cheeses. There are many ways which can make more benefits, such as enhancing the quality of service, bettering the taste, making lower price and etc. Also it is totally possible that one piece of imported cheese has much more benefits than the home made one, which means maybe the sells of the imported ones are much less, yet they made more profits. It is so unfair that the writer just compared the sells, and neglect the differences between manufacturing costs and selling price of the two. And no more imported cheeses may not definitely improving the selling of home made cheeses. Some people who favorite imported cheese best would just give up buying if there is no one, which to say that even discontinue stocking
imported ones will not definitely lead to increase sells of the home made ones.
From what we have discussed above, we found out the writer do not have enough proof to confirm his point. The writer should provide more information about the whole city's domesticate selling and more detailed proof about the comparison figures between the home made and imported cheeses to better verify his point.
