Searching in the internet can be totally an exhausted experience, as you (bounce [bauns]弹跳) from one site to another to another. Sometimes (until) you can’t remember what’re you looking for at the first place. But according to scientist at Y A, all that virtually running around is actually good exercise for your brain, particularly if you are older. Because internet training can enhance neural function. The scientists work with people between ages of 55 and 78. at the start of the study, all the participants did some web searching when the scientist monitored their brain ability by functional magnetic磁性的,催眠的 resonance ['rezәnәns]共振,回响 imaging (就是著名的MRI)).
The subject who’d had little exposure to the internet before the study showed that activity in brain’s region involved in vision, language and reading. Then everyone went home to do some surfing on their own, an hour a day for total a week. When they no longer naïve subjects returned to the lab, their brain scan showed additional activity in regions associated with working memory, and decision making. The results were presented on Oct. 19th at 2009 meeting of society for neural science in Chicago. So for older adults, a little web surfing could keep your brain on its (toes)

A night light may keep those monsters under their bed, but may also open the door of blues. because the new study reveals that animal exposed to the light all night long show signs [sain]
of clinic depression. If you’ve access to electricity, you no doubt (switch) on the lamp, maybe even watch a little TV after the sun goes down. But our body use cues about light(ness and) dark to regulate our hormones and of course our sleep cycles. So what might these (extra
['ekstrə] photons['fəutɔn]光子) be doing to my health. To find out, scientists housed mice in a room where the lights were always on. After 3 weeks, they found mice who lived in the spot light showed symptom of depression, more so than mice who join into (enjoyed) 8 hour of darkness at night. Interestingly, mice who could escape the light by (ducking躲避) into a dark tube, also escaped the worst of the depression. The finding were presented on Oct. 21st at the society for neural science meeting in Chicago, and be published in journal behavioral brain research in December. So, flip that light which (switch开关 at 连读your连读 own) risk, because the artificial brightness that helps keep us up, could also bring us down.

It’s one of the most vexing problems in modern science. Which wine to order with the (Chilean) (sea bass 黑鲈鱼bass 低音). One thing for sure, though you only ever order a white wine never a red wine with fish, the flavors just clash. But now researchers pinpointed the problem with red wine and seafood, and some reds might actually go fun(fine) with fish. Japanese scientists ask study subject to try 38 red wines and 26 whites while eating (scallops['skɔləp]扇贝). Some of the wines contained smaller amounts of iron, which varied by country (of origin, variety and vintage ['vintidʒ] (vin-+age)年代). The tasters noted which wines really didn’t work with scallops. And researchers found those wines all had high levels of iron. So (they doctored掺入) the wine with substance that (binds[baind]捆住) the iron keeping it away from the taster’s tongues. And voila, the bad taste became a bad memory. The study appeared in journal of agriculture and food chemistry. Some people eat to avoid being bored, others to avoid doing something (they’d) rather not, like preparing a podcast播客?. Now reporter says we might eat to avoid fungi(复数), because warm bloodedness, a condition required lots of calories, may involve to keep fungus infection (at bay陷入困境). There were obvious benefits to be warm-blooded, like not having to sit in the sun for few hours, just to get going in the morning. Another, less obvious plus, is the fact we tend not to get attacked by fungi. Of the one and a half million fungal species on the earth, only a few hundred are capable of infecting mammals, compare that to a quarter of a million fungi that target plants, and fifty thousand species that infect insects. So what make us mammals relatively fungus free? It seems to be our hot bodies. Scientists measured how (well) four thousand different fungi (fared进食,费用) at different temperatures. And they found that nearly all grew well (up) to about 86 degrees. Beyond that, the survivors dropped by 6 percent for each extra degree. The study appeared in the journal of infectious diseases.
Bottom line(
最终结论): if you can’t stand fungus, get back in the kitchen.
