I agree with the author of this statement insofar as that referring to the record approaches, compared to the written, video camera can copy down more precise details . However, it is the exaggerating of the essence of the video camera to state that it is more important form of documentation than the written. At documenting abstract items such as people's feeling, exercise, interpreting of the existing, and some quantitive information, the written has its significant advantages compared to video records. So both of these two means are substantial to people and it is undue to present which is better.

Admittedly, for the purpose of recording temporal, spatial events and occurrence procedure, video camera has its advanced features of accuracy, promptness and vividness. Take the World Cup for example, it is the video camera that bring all the spectator all over the world, though being out of the playing area, the feeling that they are together with the players on the ground, namely to describe the show beautifully, thoroughly, and precisely without any omission or hyperbole of the details. Additionally, in the field of public and traffic security, the video camera also has immense contribution in obtaining evidence due to its particular fairness in both time and space. There is no gainsaying that in certain field alike above, video records are inherently more accurate, objective and complete.

Superficially, it seems that the video documentation is more popular than the written since of video’s fascinating characters and the parentage of high-tech, however, that must skip the crucial substantive features of written records which is so common and widely used crossing hundreds of years that lead itself easily to be overlooked. Considering the physical science textbooks that are utilized for education in all schools or colleges, they are recording the abstraction of the conclusion, axiom and research methods of natural phenomenon and regular. Only written records can be charge of where video presenting is absurd, and the contents of the documentation can be translated to all kinds of language for demand. What' more, referring to other abstract subjects such as the field of law clauses, economics principles, and so forth, the written has its pivotal role in recording that obviously can not be replaced by the moving images.

In addition, the words also has its magic effect in putting down people's subjective state of mind, ideal, impression or reflection of an event or experience, where the video can not work due to the objects are only in individual's brains. Fortunately, the pool of words are abound of kinds of descriptive adjective by which can show and record the human's thoughts to contemporaries and offspring. For instance, if the written documentations are desolated, the varieties of precious philosophy thoughts may be only shine to their possessor at most limited people posted by oral. Breaking the ice, how the loss will be up to could be clearly checked if there is no written records.


To sum up, video tells us about "what" and "where", while, not only does words can do the same, but also, the written records show us "why" and "how", that demystify and presents the meanings of both subjective existing and objective beings to us.
